What is EWM

EWM is a module of SAP, which stands for Extended Warehouse Management and is part of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). It provides a complete and advanced warehouse management solution to support enterprises' global operations in warehouse management , order management, shipping, and receipt .

EWM provides enterprises with more efficient warehouse management and production logistics control , allowing them to better control their supply chain and logistics processes.

First we need to understand some concepts: ASN , HU , IBD , ODO , etc.

ASN order refers to the abbreviation of Advanced Shipping Notice , which is translated into Chinese as " Advance Shipping Notice " .

It is mainly used to provide detailed packaging, transportation and delivery information of the goods to ensure that the goods can be understood by the recipient in time before shipment.

IBD (or ID ) ( Inbound Delivery ) is actually the warehouse receipt order .

OBD ( Outbound Delivery Order ) is an outbound delivery order and is also an outbound order in business language .

All inbound and outbound documents in EWM follow the logistics direction. Entering the warehouse is Inbound , and leaving the warehouse is Outbound . This reminds me of the customer return delivery note in SD , which is actually Outbound , but in EWM , it is Inbound .

As for the delivery document, there is another type called OD ( Outbound Delivery ) in Embedded EWM , but it is more like an interface document. It can be automatically generated after ODO and the completion signal is sent back to ERP .
