Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS) Incentive Testnet v0.6.0 is officially launched

Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS) is the first blockchain network to support large-scale commercial storage. It is also a secure, efficient, open source, and scalable decentralized storage network. CESS provides the best solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3. CESS supports the valuing of data within the network and the free circulation/sharing of data value, while using a trustless approach to achieve user data privacy protection and absolute data sovereignty. CESS's first decentralized object storage service (DeOSS) is S3 in the field of decentralized storage.

Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS) will officially launch the public beta of CESS Incentive Test Network v0.6.0 at 8:00 (UTC 0) on July 4, that is, 15:00 on July 4, Beijing time.

At the end of the v0.5.3 version, there were 6376 storage nodes. Thanks to the community for supporting CESS. In the upcoming v0.6.0, we are bringing many important optimization upgrades and feature updates to the community. The following will introduce the features of this version in detail in terms of major upgrades and optimization upgrades.

Major upgrades:

1. The underlying data transmission mode has been completely upgraded, realizing point-to-point direct transmission and improving transmission speed and security.

2. The TEE Worker based on SGX is officially launched, providing a more comprehensive and verifiable guarantee for user data security.

3. The file recovery mechanism is officially launched, and the network automatically repairs damaged data in the network through elastic repair.

4. The PoDR² storage proof mechanism adds the feature of aggregate proof, which greatly reduces the amount of data required for verification.

5. The R²S consensus mechanism has been newly upgraded, supporting nodes to accumulate deposits and become validators by being nominated.

Optimization and upgrade:

1. Implemented a phased upgrade of the Substrate framework and successfully migrated to Polkadot-v0.9.36.

2. Reconstructed the code modules of blockchain nodes and storage nodes to make them more flexible, scalable and easy to maintain.

3. Comprehensively optimize the file upload process, improving on-chain execution efficiency and the overall stability of the CESS network.

4. The storage node reward and punishment mechanism has been adjusted to enhance the node’s operational flexibility and account fault tolerance.

The modules tested this time include storage nodes, consensus nodes (CPU needs to support SGX), decentralized object storage (DeOSS), etc. For the configuration requirements of these modules, please refer to the corresponding construction guide.

The reward rules are as follows:

storage node

The testing period of CESS v0.6.0 is approximately 4 weeks, and the total reward points for all storage nodes are 6,000, corresponding to 600,000 mainnet CESS tokens. Specifically, the final points of each node are calculated based on the percentage of the total storage power (Storage Power) occupied by the node. If the total computing power of the entire CESS network is 10,000G at the end, and the computing power of node A is 100G at the end, then node A can get 60 points this round. Please go to the test network faucet to get the test currency TCESS required for staking.

Please note: Only when the computing power (Power) is greater than 1G at the end of this round of testing can it be counted as a valid node.

Consensus node

Consensus node rewards will be announced after the test ends. For the TCESS required for staking, please contact the administrator on the CESS official Telegram to apply.

The final storage node and consensus node point rewards will be announced on the CESS official Twitter, and the values after a few points of storage miner computing power will be rounded off. Points will be awarded at a ratio of 1:100 (i.e. 1 point is exchanged for 100 CESS tokens)
