Detailed installation of the 2021 version of idea (one step)

This article mainly talks about the installation method of the 2021 version of idea. Convenient for yourself and others to use.

1. Download the latest IDEA 2021 version installation package

We first download the 2021 installation package from the IDEA official website. The download link is as follows: https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download

2. Uninstall the old version of IDEA first

1. Whether to delete the lower version of IDEA on the computer

If your computer has an old version of IDEA installed before, you need to uninstall it first, otherwise the installation may fail!

The uninstall interface appears. Check all options to delete the configuration files at the same time, then click Uninstall.

3. Start installing the IDEA 2021 version

1. Install idea

Double-click the idea-xx.exe file to install, click next to proceed.

2. Select the installation directory

3. Create shortcuts

Confirm whether it is associated with .java, .groovy, and .kt format files. You can also choose not to associate it here.

4. Select the start menu file for the idea shortcut

Create a new folder in the [Start] menu to manage IDEA related content

4. When opening idea for the first time, exit first.

After DEA runs successfully, the following dialog box will pop up, prompting us to log in to JetBrains first.

Let’s not worry about it here. Click Exit to exit and prepare to start running the “installation script”.

5. It is very important to clear the "installation method" and configuration files that IDEA has used before [you can skip this step for the first time]

If you have installed IDEA before, the modified hosts file must be restored and the referenced Buding must be removed. Otherwise, it may conflict with the Buding provided in this article and various strange problems may occur.

If the hosts file has not been touched, leave it alone and continue with the following steps.

Delete old configuration files

In the following directory, delete the configuration file

C:Users[system username]AppDataRoamingJetBrains

Note: Friends who have not installed the old version of IDEA can skip it and just follow the steps below.

6. Download the "Installation Configuration" file

7. File "installation" idea

1. Click the file to install

After decompression, depending on the version, select the "2021" folder, double-click .vbs文件to start using it, and after completion, a success message will be displayed indicating success.

8. Cancel idea update

Click File->Settings, enter updates to find the update related options, uncheck them all, click apply to apply the settings, and the idea can cancel the update.

You can choose to delete the exe installation package, which will have no impact on the software. (Whether to delete it depends on personal circumstances)
