COMSOL help document use summary

foreword

In the content of my previous blog (link: COMSOL beginner experience sharing ), point 7 mentioned the use of help documents, but I observed that many people did not check the help documents for solutions. Ask some relatively simple questions. For the learning of large-scale software, the official help document is always the best teaching material, so I am inspired to make a summary of the use of the help document here, I hope it will be helpful to your study, and everyone will make progress together!

1. Introduction

For the help document, with the successful installation of the software, its PDF file will be under the installation path of the software. If you don't use it at ordinary times, it takes up space and is wasted. Take me personally as an example: D:\Program Files (x86)\COMSOL6.0\COMSOL61\Multiphysics\doc\pdf
as shown in the figure below, where you can see the help document folders of all the modules you want to view.

2. View in the interface

In the software interface, right- click any node in the model builder tree , and a help document will pop up on the right. By reading this document, you can view all the settings of the node. After opening the help document, if you click any node in the model builder tree on the left, the help document will jump to the help document of the node. Since the local document mentioned in the first section is loaded, the whole process is very fast.

As can be seen from the figure above, the address to be accessed is the document address mentioned in the first section above. Taking this help document as an example, the order of its introduction also corresponds to the settings of the intermediate density model. The method of how to read English efficiently in this document will also be mentioned later.

3. Suggestions

1. Introduction document

Open the folder mentioned in the first section above, taking the ACDC module as shown below as an example. After opening, there are two files in it. The first file is the user manual . If you right click on the node related to the electromagnetic field in the model builder tree on the software interface, you will access this document. The second document is an introduction document , which is a Chinese document . So here is a suggestion: If you are new to a module, you can check this document first to understand the basic introduction of this module, and then there are related classic cases in it, try to follow along, and then do other cases on the official website, which can achieve twice the result with half the effort .

2. English reading

1. Document viewing
For the help documents opened in the software interface mentioned in the second section of the previous question, you can use various English translation software to translate words (such as Netease Youdao Dictionary); if you think the document is too small to look good, Moreover, the area of operation will be compressed, and you can open and view it in the document path described in the first section according to the link above it .
2. Full-text translation Under the file
in the upper left corner of the COMSOL software interface , open the preferences , find the help column, and change the document display position and the display help position to external browsers .       After clicking OK, after opening the document, it will be linked to the computer's default browser (such as Google Chrome) to open, and you can use the translation function of the browser to read Chinese and read efficiently.
