Yield Guild Games Partners with 4X City-Building P2E Game Civitas

Yield Guild Games (YGG) has reached a cooperation with Civitas, further expanding its game partner territory. Civitas is a community-driven 4X (exploration, expansion, development, and government) strategy game where players level up their cities by fighting other cities either individually or in alliances.

YGG purchased $150,000 in CITI governance tokens and will purchase game assets as the game develops. Earned tokens will help guilds create their own cities after the game launches.

Civitas was founded by Directive Games, a game studio made up of game industry veterans from CCP Games, LucasArts, Weta Digital, DICE, Square Enix, Ubisoft and Tencent. Since 2014, the team has been creating online multiplayer games set in large universes, backed by a broad and active community. Civitas will be the studio's first AAA blockchain game and a key project for future development.

Kent Byers, Head of Product at Civitas, said: “YGG is definitely a pioneer in the blockchain space when it comes to community engagement and collaboration. Community collaboration is at the heart of Civitas, so it was only natural for us to partner with the Guild.”

Civitas' unique gameplay relies heavily on teamwork and cooperation, as each player's contribution is important to the success of their city. The game also employs a sub-DAO model where cities are controlled by their communities, which enables guilds to grow and progress through the work and votes of their residents. Players can form alliances to fight or cooperate with other cities. Residents can harvest goods, play mini-games to earn in-game tokens, and customize their land. The inhabitants of each city have complete freedom to decide how they wish to develop in matters such as form of government, religion, banking system, and general structure and capabilities.

In addition to cross-platform games between mobile phones and PCs, players can find rare resources in AR, and any game assets collected or obtained by playing mini games on mobile phones can also be used on PC.

$CITI tokens are earned by completing tasks and participating in activities such as subDAO contributions and AR mini-games. $CITI is also found randomly when gathering resources.

The $CITI token can be used for governance, staking, and in-game purchases. NFT buildings have different functions and states and can be decorative or functional. Players can also burn buildings along with other resources to upgrade to new buildings.

Additionally, residents can stake their tokens on their land. Each city manages its own staking mechanism and reward distribution mechanism. They will compete with others for limited resources to keep advancing and developing. Residents also need to secure and hold strategic control points to prevent other cities from expropriating them for other purposes.

The game also offers a free option. However, players who own a Citizen NFT and land in a chosen city will be able to do more co-op.

Civitas will launch the first batch of NFTs in the second quarter of 2022, with testing and release in 2023.
