Interrogative sentence in simple present tense : Formula: Be verb + pronoun + <indefinite article> + noun

       Hint: indefinite article

The "a" is added to the sentence "Is she a doctor?" because in English, when we talk about someone's occupation or status, we usually add the indefinite article "a" or " an" to express a general reference.

In this sentence, "Is she a doctor?" is an interrogative, asking whether someone is a doctor. In this case, we use the indefinite article "a" because we are not referring to a particular doctor, but to any doctor in general. The indefinite article "a" means "one", expressing a general concept.

If we are referring to a specific doctor, we can use the definite article "the", eg: "Is she the doctor who treated me yesterday?" Here "the doctor" refers to the person who treated me (the specific doctor) yesterday the doctor.

Therefore, to express generality, the indefinite article "a" is used in the interrogative sentence "Is she a doctor?"
