[Data sharing] Raster data of 1km precision population distribution from 2000 to 2022 (free access/global/national/by province/by city)

Population spatial distribution data is the data we often use in various researches. Before that, we shared with you the 1km precision population distribution raster dataset from the LandScan platform from 2000 to 2021. The LandScan population dataset was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and provided by East View Cartographic. LandScan uses innovative methods such as GIS and remote sensing, and is the social standard for global population data release. It is the world's most accurate, reliable, geographically-based, global demographic analysis database with distribution models and the best resolution.

On July 1, 2023, the LandScan population data set updated the data for 2022. We downloaded and processed the data and shared it with everyone! In a nutshell, what I share this time is the 2000-2022 population spatial distribution raster data with a precision of 1 km from the LandScan dataset . In addition to downloading the global data, in order to facilitate everyone's use, we also process the data into nationwide data, divided by provinces, and divided by cities, and share them with you!

The following is a detailed introduction of the data:

01Data preview

Let's take the 2022 data as an example to preview:

02Data  Details

Data resolution:

30 arc seconds (about 1 km)

Data Sources:

https://landscan.ornl.gov

Data Format:

tif

Data coordinate system:

WGS1984

Data unit:

The unit of this data is person. It should be noted that the value of this data represents the number of permanent residents in each grid (the grid area is about 1 km*1 km)! For example, if the value of a grid is 56568, it means that the grid has a permanent population of 56568 people!

03  Raw data download method

If you want to download the data by yourself, open the website: https://landscan.ornl.gov/, select the desired year and space range, and then click the location as shown below to fill in the corresponding information, and then you can download the data~

At the bottom of the article is our official account business card. We will regularly introduce various types of urban data and data visualization and analysis technologies.
