How to change the computer power-on password

Take my computer as an example, it is a laptop with Windows 10 system. Want to reset the power-on password.

I believe that everyone has the urge to reset the password. There are also corresponding tutorials on the Internet, but many people have a question, why the modification according to the tutorial is unsuccessful, or why the password has not changed at all after logging in to the computer again.

In fact, there is a small detail here. The password has actually been changed, but the login option may still be the default. Therefore, the newly entered password does not respond, and the original password can still log in.

Difference between Microsoft account password and PIN code

The difference between a pin code and a normal password: the pin code and the normal password are independent. When using a Microsoft account to log in to your computer, setting a pin code can solve the trouble of entering a complex password every time. Entering the pin code does not even need to be confirmed. Just log in automatically.

The pin code is only associated with the device you set. When you lose the pin code, you can reset it through the traditional password. The bound mailbox must be available or it will be very troublesome.

The difference between the PIN code and the Microsoft account password is that the Microsoft account password can be used on any device, while the PIN code is only valid for the current device (this computer) where you set the PIN. You can understand that the PIN code is a password that can be used on a specific A local password on the device that replaces your Microsoft account password. When you log into your computer with a Microsoft account, Windows will transmit the Microsoft account password you enter to Microsoft's servers for verification, while a PIN will not.

Note: The PIN code cannot completely replace the Microsoft account password. To set a PIN, you must first log in to the current computer with the Microsoft account.
