Difference between Microsoft account password and PIN code
The difference between a pin code and a normal password: the pin code and the normal password are independent. The difference between the PIN code and the Microsoft account password is that the Microsoft account password can be used on any device, while the PIN code is only valid for the current device (this computer) where you set the PIN.
