26-year-old Mobike executive: When we killed the post-80s generation, we never said sorry! ▎China Business School

Born in 1992, and now only 26 years old, he wrote "After 70s and 80s can't be fired, who is responsible for the death of the company? Zhou Zhewu in the article has already served as the head of the mobile terminal in Mobike, which shows that the post-70s and 80s workers are getting more and more awkward in the workplace. Even if you are not yet 30 years old, you should read this article. After all, when people are 30 years old, it is always right to plan ahead.

I recently published an article, which scared me into a cold sweat. The title was "If you can't get rid of the 70s and 80s, who is responsible for the death of the company?"

The author of this article is Zhou Zhewu, who was born in 1992 and is only 26 years old now. He is already in charge of the mobile terminal of Mobike. (China Business School)

Screenshot of Zhou Zhewu when he was on TV

In the article, he shared a story:

The company has a very old employee C, who has followed the founder from the beginning. For almost three years, there is no credit or hard work.

However, with the expansion of the company's business, C began to fish for three days and spend two days in the net. The business was not enterprising, and it continued to discourage the enthusiasm of new employees.

After many unsuccessful conversations, Zhou Zhewu could only fire him.

Although this situation may be a special case, we can also see that the position of workers born in the 1970s and 1980s in the workplace is indeed getting more and more awkward.

In comparison, they can’t compare to their bosses. They often hold high positions of power and hold deep connections and capital. No matter how bad it is, they also hold the company’s stock;

Compared to the next, they can't compare to those young people. They have high education, good physical strength, and learn things quickly. Many former hairy boys have climbed up and become their own leaders.

When I am in my early 30s, it is the time to marry a wife and have children. On the one hand, the family pressure increases, and on the other hand, the status in the workplace becomes more and more embarrassing. If you are not careful, you will be defeated in these two battlefields.

So, in this era, if you want to give yourself a guarantee, so that you can live calmly, what should you do?

Even if you are not yet 30 years old, you should take a good look at this article. After all, when people are 30 years old, it is always right to plan ahead.

01

30 year old employee,

How bad is it?

Let's look at some news first:

At the beginning of last year, a Huawei insider posted that Huawei China began to focus on cleaning up delivery engineering maintenance personnel over 34 years old, and R&D began to focus on removing old employees over 40 years old.

Although Huawei officials immediately denied the news, a speech by Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei exposed on the Internet still shows Huawei's attitude and requirements for employees:

"Huawei has no money. If you don't fight, you will collapse. It's impossible to pay for those who don't fight. Is it possible that you are young and strong in your 30s, if you don't work hard, you just want to lie in bed and count money?"

At the end of last year, Ou, a 42-year-old ZTE programmer, jumped off the roof of the ZTE building, leaving behind four elderly people and a pair of young children.

The reason for his suicide was that he was led to talk, saying that the company was going to lay off employees on a large scale, and asked him to voluntarily resign and reclaim his equity.

His wife doesn't have a job, he is a housewife at home, two young children need to be fed, four old people need to take care of, and there are car loans and mortgages... The life of the whole family, young and old, depends on one person in Europe. (China Business School)

Under the pressure, he chose a path of no return.

In addition, there are many such heartbreaking cases around:

A director from Baidu, about 40 years old, because of the personnel struggle, he quit his job and started a business in a fit of anger. He felt that he had connections and resources to make a living, but he didn't expect anything. In the end, he had to squat at home and pick up the children every day. After class, I occasionally make money as an industry consultant.

The sales director of a foreign company in China was unemployed because of the withdrawal of foreign capital and the company's bankruptcy. Because he was over 45 years old, no Chinese company dared to ask him, so he had to start his own business and lost more than 1 million in half a year.

An ordinary white-collar worker, 30 years old, the company closed down, he stayed at home for more than half a year, doing laundry and cooking every day. The company wanted him, but his salary was only half of what he was before, and he only worked for three months, and was fired again.

In these stories, many people will say that they blame them for not having a sense of crisis, and they are completely self-inflicted; some people think that they are lazy and do not work hard to get into such an embarrassing situation.

In fact, everyone who faces layoffs is not not working hard, but they naively believe that as long as they work diligently, they can get rich rewards.

There was a piece of news before that a toll station in a certain place was cancelled, and the toll collectors gathered around the leaders to discuss their opinions. One of them burst into tears: "I'm 36 years old this year, and I can't do anything but toll!"

According to reports, the toll collectors are also very hard working, and they don't have to rest during the festivals. They often sit at the charging point for a whole day.

However, times have changed, and this is a time when choices are more important than hard work.

Bet all your hopes in your life on a company or a boss, but don't plan and plan for yourself. Once you are abandoned, you will be the one who will be hurt the most.

Many people mistake the platform as their own value. You have value on the platform, but you have no value in the society.

The only way is to never give yourself up and always plan for yourself. The value that belongs to the platform does not belong to you at all. It belongs to your own ability, and no one can take it away.

The key to wealth:

plan for yourself

"Father of Japanese Strategy" Kenichi Ohmae put forward this point of view in "Professionalism":

"Why did you win? What will affect the general trend of the world in the future is the competition between individuals. Can you dominate the world stage and forge the core competitiveness that others cannot surpass? Your only reliance is professionalism."

No matter what kind of person you want to be, the most important thing is to find a professional position for yourself and establish your own brand image, so that you will have more bargaining chips in your career development in the future.

In 2016, there was a very popular online drama called "Forensic Qin Ming", which was adapted from the "Forensic Qin Ming" series of novels. (China Business School)

The author of this novel is a professional forensic doctor whose name is Qin Ming. In his spare time, he writes novels and shares his case handling experience with netizens.

Over time, he became the most famous forensic doctor in China, and his novels became a mess.

In terms of professional skills of forensic medicine, Qin Ming must not be the best, but his cleverness lies in making his experience into an IP with strong monetization ability.

In this way, no matter how the surrounding environment changes, as long as the "Forensic Doctor Qin Ming" brand is still there, he will never be afraid of running out of food.

It can be seen that the fundamental of grasping wealth is to jump out of your own work and explore more possibilities to increase your wealth.

To be honest, just by working for the boss, you can live in peace in this life?

Before age 30: How to lay the foundation

I suggest you do two things.

First, find a goal that you can strive for 5 years, 10 years or even longer.

This is an ideal state. Because a clear goal can make your career growth revolve around a point to accumulate experience, and this accumulated experience is also a bargaining chip for your future promotion and salary increase. Although experience is not necessarily related to ability, if there is no accumulation of experience, your ability is basically impossible to improve.

In his book Outliers, Macolm Gladwell says:

Whether it's the best athletes, entrepreneurs, musicians, or scientists, you'll find that at least a decade of hard work, no less than three hours a day, takes them to prominence.

There is this story in the book:

Maxim Vengerov was born in Siberia. At the age of 4, he was exposed to the first violin and showed extraordinary talent.

And, his talent and dedication are directly proportional. He practiced 7 hours a day, gave a recital at the age of 5, won an international award at the age of 15, and became the world's top violinist at the age of 34.

Vengrove said: "My mother came home at 8pm every night and taught me the violin after dinner until 4am. It was torture for a 4-year-old, but two years later I became A violinist." (China Business School)

A lot of people are complaining about not having a chance. Not so.

Frank Freddy, a sociology professor at the University of Kent, believes that people who effectively put in a lot of time into practice will naturally have their own luck: "They work very hard, and when the luck comes, they're ready."

If you don't have an opportunity, don't complain, first reflect on: What areas are you underprepared for?

According to our experience, only if you persist in one direction for at least 5 years, you are likely to be rewarded, and this reward will have a relatively long-term impact on your future career development. At the same time, it is the accumulation of such a long period of time that your foundation is very solid and firm, and your footsteps will be more stable.

The second big thing I suggest you consider is learning to be a human being.

I even think that being a person is a hundred times more important than being able to do things. Finding a suitable career goal may not be easy for many confused people; but learning to be a person is a professional quality that you can cultivate in any company and at any time.

In the cultivation of life, there are four elements that can have a fatal impact on your future career development:

1. Your interpersonal skills

This includes your relationship with your boss, as well as your relationship with your co-workers.

2. The ability to keep learning

I once met a client who was nearly 40 years old. He had been an accountant for 14 years, and he was still only a junior supervisor. He had no opportunity for promotion in the company, and he had not received a salary increase for many years.

We asked him, "Did you have any training, refresher or any other form of recharging during those 14 years?"

"no."

"Never?"

"there has never been."

This is a very extreme example, but this phenomenon is very common in the workplace.

Without learning, your career development will stall. You think you have not regressed, but in fact others are making progress, and the gap between you and others has opened up unconsciously, which is equivalent to regressing.

3. Establish a professional spirit

Whether you have goals or not, whether the job is something you want to do or not, as long as you are in this position, you should get things done.
