VRRP technology and floating routing (Lesson 26)

1. Floating routing

1. Overview of floating routing

1) What is a floating route

- Floating routing is also called routing backup, which consists of two or more links to form a floating routing

-Floating route refers to configuring two static routes, the destination addresses of these two static routes are the same, but the next hop addresses are different.

- Set different priorities for these two static routes, the static route with higher priority is used as the main link, and the static route with lower priority is used as the backup link.

- When the main link fails, the backup link enters the routing table and assumes the data forwarding task for the main link

- When the primary link recovers from failure, the primary link enters the routing table and assumes the task of data forwarding, and the backup link becomes unavailable and moves out of the routing table

2) The role of floating routing: to prevent link single-point failure and keep the network uninterrupted

3) Floating routing features: floating routing at the same time, the data will only be forwarded by one link
