Adding a good background music to the video can often add a lot of color to the editing work. The right soundtrack can correctly guide the audience's emotions, enhance the atmosphere of the video, and even play a finishing touch. Mastering the skills of extracting background music from videos can also save us the trouble of finding resources. Then, this article will introduce in detail how to retain the original sound of the video plus the background music, and how to extract the background music and remove the human voice.
1. How to keep the original soundtrack of the video plus background music
On the premise of not affecting the listening effect of the original sound of the video, adding background music to the video material must not only successfully separate the audio, but also avoid the interference of other audio tracks and noises.

1. Keep the original soundtrack of the video plus background music
First, insert the video material into the "Video Track", right click on the "Music Track" to insert the background music.
Figure 2: Insert material and background music
During the clip authoring process, in most cases, the entire music is not selected to be used as background music. In the editing area of the VideoStudio video editing software, click the "Play" button in the preview window in the upper left corner, and use the S key to split the music material during the music preview (press and hold Ctrl+mouse wheel to zoom in and out of the view in the track editing area, so as to obtain a more accurate material segmentation effect).
In order to avoid the appearance of background music too abruptly, we often need to set the fade-in effect for the divided music material. In the VideoStudio video editing software, just right-click the divided music material and click "Fade in Audio", you can set an effect for the background music to gradually reveal the volume.
Figure 3: Split audio setting fade-in effect
Move the time slider to the end of the video material, select the audio material and press the "S key" to delete the redundant part. Right-click the music material again, and click "Fade Out Audio" to set the effect that the background music will be gradually muted.

After completing the above operations, click the "Share button" above the VideoStudio video editing software. Select the file export format and resolution according to your needs, name the file and click "Start" to export the file to the computer for storage.

2. Avoid Interference Between Tracks
Throughout the work, the volume of the original video soundtrack often varies from high to low, which is often seen in various "audio novel" video works. In order to let the audience get a better audio-visual experience, the vocals can easily be overwhelmed by the background music in the bass part. In order to avoid this situation, you can follow the steps below.
First, insert the original video into the video track of the VideoStudio video editing software, and insert the background music into the music track. Right-click the video clip, click "Audio" and select "Separate Audio".
Figure 6: Separate audio
Right-click the material on the music track, click "Audio Adjustment".
Figure 7: Open Audio Adjustment
Here you can see the two options of "Adjustment Level" and "Sensitivity" , the representative meanings are as follows.
Sensitivity : the maximum volume level that can be tolerated for the audio material, the lower the value, the more sensitive it is.
Adjustment level : the extent to which the volume of the material is reduced, the higher the value, the greater the volume reduction.
In order to achieve the "auto-ducking" effect between tracks while keeping the background music as much as possible (rather than being completely muted), it may be necessary to try different "Adjustment Level" and "Sensitivity" values several times.
Figure 8: Setting adjustment level and sensitivity
In the audio adjustment panel of the VideoStudio video editing software, there are two options, "Attack" and "Attenuation", and their meanings are shown in the figure below.
Attack: It is the time required for the amplitude of the sound wave signal to reach the "peak" from "0".
Attenuation: It is the time required for the amplitude of the sound wave signal to reach the "steady state" from the "peak value".
By controlling the values of "Attack" and "Attenuation", you can fine-tune the "timbre" of each piece of audio material.

2. How to extract background music and remove vocals
In the process of watching a movie, you often encounter nice BGM (that is, background music). If you can't find relevant resources, you can extract the background music and remove the human voice in the following ways.
1. Eliminate noisy human voices
VideoStudio has 28 preset audio filters, supports the operation of adding multiple audio filters to the same audio, and each audio filter has its own independent filter setting interface. We can use NewBlue noise reducer, NewBlue noise fader, NewBlue audio polish, these three filters to remove the noise in the material.
Figure 10: Adding three audio filters
As shown in the figure below, after selecting the NewBlue denoiser filter, drag the "Strength" slider to control the strength of the noise reduction.
Figure 11: Adjusting intensity to reduce background noise
By setting the "Threshold" and "Fade" options of the NewBlue noise fader, you can eliminate small noises in the audio and make the sound more pure.
Figure 12: Reduced Noise Bass Section
In the setting interface of the NewBlue audio polish filter, by adjusting the value of "Noise Reduction", you can eliminate the messy noise in the audio, through the "Compression" option to control the strength of the audio amplitude, through the "Brightness" option to adjust the level of the tone, and through the "Environment" option to simulate the strength of the echo in the environment.

2. Eliminate abrupt vocals
The waveform editing function of VideoStudio video editing software can help us eliminate the more abrupt vocals in the audio.
First, insert the video clip into VideoStudio, right click on the clip and select "Separate Audio".
Figure 14: Insert material and separate audio
After selecting the audio material, click the "Mix" button on the toolbar to activate the waveform editing function.
Move the mouse to the waveform where "human voice" appears in the audio material (the mouse will turn into an arrow), click on both ends of the human voice waveform to add control points, and drag the front and rear two control points to the bottom to mute the clip.
Similarly, after adding and selecting a control point, you can also adjust the volume of the control point in the "Mix" interface in the upper right corner.

3. Summary
The above is how to keep the original sound of the video plus the background music, and how to extract the background music and remove the entire content of the human voice. In the creative process, we can use VideoStudio video editing software to add background music to the video material. Using the "Audio Adjustment" function of VideoStudio, automatic ducking between audio tracks can be realized. VideoStudio video editing software can add multiple audio filters to the same piece of audio. Reasonable use of audio filters can effectively remove noise such as human voices.
