Recently, a pop-up window prompting " Invalid file format ." has appeared remotely. You can only click " Dismiss " to temporarily close it. After the virtual machine reproduces the environment, the problem is located because the host name or user name of the Windows system is caused by Chinese . The blogger Win11 system, the solution is as follows:

 

1. Modify the host name of the computer

Right-click "This Computer -> Properties -> Rename This Computer" or right-click "Start Menu -> Settings -> Rename", enter the English computer name -> Next -> Confirm", restart the computer

2. Modify the system user name

Win+E to enter Explorer -> C:\Users\ (or C:\users\). If there is Chinese in the path, an error "Invalid file format." will be reported when installing ERDAS2022. The solution steps are as follows:

(1) View SID

Win+E -> Enter cmd and press Enter -> Enter whomami /user and press Enter, check and remember the SID, which will be used to modify the registry later;

 (2) Create a new administrator account

In the disconnected state, right-click "Start Menu -> Settings -> Account -> Other Users -> Add User -> Enter Username, Password and Security Question -> Next -> -> OK -> Change Account Type -> Administrator -> OK";

(3) Rename the Chinese username folder

 Alt+F4 -> Logout -> Select a new account to log in -> Win+E to open Explorer -> C:\user\Chinese folder right click and rename it to English;

(4) Modify the registry

Win+E -> Enter cmd and press Enter -> Enter regedit and press Enter:

1) Enter "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList" in the search box and press Enter, find the above SID, double-click "ProfileImagePath" on the right and change the value "C:\user\Chinese" to "C:\user\English" and confirm to save;

2) Enter "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Usermanager\Users" in the search box and press Enter, find the item with "UserPicture" on the right, double-click to change the value "C:\user\Chinese" to "C:\user\English" and confirm to save;

 (5) Modify system environment variables

Alt+F4 -> Log out of the newly created account -> Select the original account to log in -> Right-click "This Computer" -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> Change "C:\user\Chinese" in all user variables to "C:\user\English" and confirm to save;

(6) Modify user attributes and check

 1) Win+E -> enter cmd and press Enter -> enter control userpasswords2 and press Enter -> local user -> properties -> change the username and full name to the same English -> confirm to save;

 2) Win+E -> enter cmd and press Enter -> enter set username and press Enter to confirm that the user name has been changed to English; to be on the safe side, Alt+F4 -> log out of the original account -> restart the computer -> right click on the start menu -> terminal administrator -> enter mklink /d C:\Users\original Chinese username C:\Users\new English username;

(6) Delete the newly created account

If the new account has no other purpose, it can be deleted.
