There are three types of networks in vmware, only host host, NAT and bridge mode.
Only the host host host is used to communicate with the host network. NAT is used to forward network addresses to the Internet. Bridge mode is used to build a bridge with a network other than the host.
After adding a network card in bridge mode, if you use a wired connection, at this time, the bridge network card will be bridged to the wired network card of the host. If the host is connected to the router through a wired connection, the virtual machine can also be assigned to the IP address from the router, independent On the host computer, you can also access the Internet. However, when the host is not suitable for wired Internet access, the network card in bridge mode of the virtual machine cannot be assigned an IP, because the default is bridged wired.
The following are the steps for vmware to configure the bridge mode and bridge to the wireless network card to access the Internet. Through this step, it can be realized that the network card in bridge mode can also be assigned to the IP of the router through the wireless network, so as to realize Internet access.
1. Configure bridge mode NIC
Add a network adapter in the virtual machine settings / hardware, select bridged mode.
After completing the above configuration, if the host uses a wireless network card to access the Internet, enter the virtual machine and find that the network card in bridge mode is not assigned an IP, and this network card cannot be used to access the Internet.
2. Configure bridge to wireless network card
Open the virtual network editor, add a network, select VMnet0, select the bridge mode, and bridge to the wireless network card of our host.
After completing the configuration, re-enter the virtual machine, and you can see that our network card in bridge mode has been assigned an IP, which is a network segment with the router.
