1000 things to do in Beijing after graduation, thirty-seventh, master the method of collecting knowledge

You will see that many people who are used to writing and sharing are generally writers with continuous output and long life, and their works follow one after another, and they dare not stop for a long time. It is easy to stop, but to get back on the road requires a greater driving force. This is also the reason why many people cannot persist.

How to manage your own knowledge base? I guess everyone has their own way. I also have it. Although the method is very simple, it still has some effects for me. I will share it with you. For me, collecting knowledge has two stages. At the beginning, the purpose is very strong. For example, I want to learn Linux. The books I bought and the information I found on the Internet are all related to Linux, and then I organize and digest them. Later, the utilitarianism was not so strong. Whether it is technology, literature, biography, or video, if you look at it well, you will save some fragments or entries in your own knowledge base.

Building a knowledge base is like building a skyscraper. At the beginning, you must lay a solid foundation, which is strong, upright, and tough. If someone comes and kicks it, it can be as immovable as a mountain. Knowledge is a pyramid, the more solid the site is, the easier it is to build a superstructure. How to lay a good foundation, of course, is reading. At this stage, if you use a hammer here and there to chase some knowledge fragments, the effect will be very bad.

Of course, reading alone is not enough. If you want to apply what you have learned, you also need to establish a connection between people and knowledge in your own way. My way is to write it down. Whether reading paper books or e-books, I like to write and draw while reading. After reading it, if necessary, I will record all the words and underlines in the paper book, the summary and comments in the e-book, and even write it into an article. Some of the content in the book is particularly good. I will retype the original text on the computer so that I can read it at any time.

In addition to systematic reading, we will also learn knowledge from the current paid columns, WeChat public account articles, and previous RSS and blogs. These relatively fragmented contents basically provide collection or later reading functions. After most people look at it and click on the bookmark or read it later, this knowledge disappears, because most people don’t read it later... until one day you suddenly find yourself with a reading list that can’t be seen at a glance and piles of PDFs, and then start fantasizing about going to a remote forest cabin to study for a year to catch up—by the way, it would be even better if someone brought food and took away the trash every morning when I walked along the forest stream alright.

I divide the content I will read later into two categories, one is for reference information, and I will save it and search for it in the future. The other is the one you really want to read later. For the second type, I will find out these articles for a fixed half an hour every day, write down the valuable content, mark it and put it in my knowledge base, and delete it after reading it. Prevent information interference.

There are many tools for reading later, such as Instapaper, Pocket, Evernote, Send to Kindle, etc., just choose the one that suits you.
