Preparation Guide for Cloud Disaster Recovery Deployment

According to ITIC's research, 98% of enterprises with a thousand employees experience a downtime crisis every year, and every hour of downtime will lose about 700,000 RMB. When a disaster occurs, enterprises using cloud disaster recovery can quickly help enterprises restore business through the resources and services provided by the cloud platform.

HyperBDR cloud disaster recovery, deeply connected to 20+ clouds around the world, making full use of cloud native capabilities to improve disaster recovery efficiency. Using the two major technologies carried by HyperBDR: hostless data synchronization technology and Boot in Cloud technology, it helps enterprises reduce disaster recovery costs while improving disaster recovery efficiency.

HyperBDR currently has two disaster recovery methods:

Gateway data synchronization mode disaster recovery:

The gateway data synchronization method mainly automatically creates a cloud gateway on the target cloud by calling the cloud API interface to write the source data into the high-efficiency cloud disk. In the data synchronization stage, enterprises do not need to configure instances with the same specification and number as the source on the cloud, which can save a lot of cloud instance costs. When a disaster occurs, the orchestration capability of HyperBDR can be used to generate a new disaster recovery host to quickly restore the business to an available state.

Hostless data synchronization mode disaster recovery:

Hostless data synchronization technology, without pre-purchasing cloud instances, directly synchronizes the data of the whole machine to object storage, and does not consume any other resources during the data backup and synchronization phase to optimize disaster recovery TCO. When a disaster occurs, the business system can be quickly restored to an available state from the object storage.

In the gateway data synchronization mode and the hostless data synchronization mode, the storage cost in the disaster recovery backup phase will be greatly reduced compared with the traditional disaster recovery, helping enterprises to achieve minute-level RTO.

Enterprises can consult with pre-sales engineers or exclusive sales to help them choose the most cost-effective cloud disaster recovery model.

How does HyperBDR cloud disaster recovery choose cloud resources?

1. Computing resources

Enterprises can choose public cloud, private cloud or private cloud as the target end according to the actual situation.

 Data backup phase:

  • In the gateway data synchronization mode, the enterprise needs to select a cloud server with a specification of 2-core 4G 40G as the cloud gateway during the data backup stage. A cloud gateway can mount 20 disks.
  • In the hostless data synchronization mode, enterprises do not need any computing resources during the data backup phase, but only need object storage.

Disaster recovery phase:

  • When a disaster occurs, HyperBDR can create a cloud server of the same type as the source, and use Boot in Cloud technology to directly restore the business to an available state.

2. Network resources

Before purchasing network resources, enterprises need to determine disaster recovery objectives, namely RTO and RPO. Then the network and bandwidth can be selected according to the disaster recovery target.

Enterprises can choose enterprise intranet, public network elastic IP, cloud private line, etc. for data transmission. Here we only list the public network elastic IPs and cloud dedicated lines of Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, and Huawei Cloud for reference. Enterprises can also consult HyperBDR pre-sales engineers or exclusive sales help to choose according to actual conditions.

Customers with higher network requirements can also purchase dedicated lines for disaster recovery.

3. Storage resources

  • In the gateway data synchronization mode, enterprises can choose high-efficiency cloud disks with equal or higher specifications according to the total amount/usage of source data.
  • In the hostless data synchronization mode, enterprises can choose a certain amount of redundant object storage according to the source data usage and data growth forecast.

How to install HyperBDR?

In the public network environment, enterprises can choose to use the SaaS version of HyperBDR

Just log in to the URL:

In an environment where the public network is unreachable, enterprises can deploy the stand-alone version of HyperBDR.

HyperBDR stand-alone version installation requirements: 8-core 16G 200G, CentOS7.6 and above, Linus operating system.

HyperBDR provides a license free trial service, which only supports the HyperBDR SaaS version.

If you do not have HyperBDR exclusive sales, you can go to https://www.oneprocloud.com/kefu/ to add.
