Su Guangniu said that Huawei began to develop databases as early as 2001, which are widely used in various fields of Huawei communications, and have passed high-reliability verification in the communications field. In 2011, Huawei established the 2012 Laboratory. In order to pay tribute to the great scientist Gauss, the database pre-research department was named Gauss Department. The goal is to meet the strict requirements of Huawei's products in the communication field and a small number of financial customers who have strict requirements for databases. Pairing, with customer needs as the traction, comprehensive research and development of the most cutting-edge innovative technology of the database.

In 2019, we took on a new task, that is, how to replace Huawei's original traditional commercial database with GaussDB developed by ourselves. Another appeal is that with the rapid expansion of business, the number of users of Huawei's terminal business in the world is as high as 900 million users. How should GaussDB carry these data. Now, Huawei has completed the complete replacement of the ERP system, launched more than 600 sets of GaussDB databases, experienced ten times the burst traffic test, and improved business efficiency by ten times, achieving zero failures, zero delays, and zero Account adjustment. Huawei Terminal Cloud also uses GaussDB to fully replace and launch 6PB of data. The distributed nodes have a scale of 6,000 nodes, and the resource utilization rate has increased by 30%. In addition, operators have shipped more than 300,000 sets of equipment.

Now, in addition to taking on Huawei's own mission of business continuity and technological innovation, GaussDB also needs to take on the demands of other industries for comprehensive database innovation. The future development strategy of GaussDB, in addition to deepening the financial scene, solves the dual demands of digital transformation and sustainable development of financial customers at one time; it also needs to move from the financial industry to government affairs, energy, transportation and other industries that have high requirements for databases, from China The innovation scene of the company goes to customers around the world, giving the world a better choice.

Create the most credible database and build the core technical competitiveness of "five high and two easy"

The primary goal of GaussDB is to insist on safety, reliability and high quality. Therefore, based on the full-stack trusted framework of Huawei Software Engineering, GaussDB has established an end-to-end trusted chain of design, development, testing, and management tools, including the entire tool chain of GaussDB software development, and realized the trustworthiness from the source to the process. From the trustworthiness to the results, 200,000 test cases and more than 10 typical customer scenario protection nets have been established, which really reduces the problems of financial scenario and achieves real high quality.

"GaussDB has the technical advantages of high availability, high security, high performance, high flexibility, and high intelligence, and is easy to deploy and migrate." Su Guangniu said.

In terms of performance, GaussDB is based on the Ustore storage engine, which maintains high performance and does not jitter even when the business is frequently updated for a long time. In the actual business test of China Merchants Bank, GaussDB is far ahead of the domestic The jitter rate of other manufacturers is reduced by 85.6%, and the utilization rate of storage space is increased by 17%.

In terms of availability, GaussDB and ICBC Lianchuang launched the first dual-cluster strong consistency solution based on the separation of storage and computing in China, which achieved complete isolation of cluster-level faults with RPO=0 and dual-AZ active-active.

In terms of security, GaussDB's fully encrypted technology allows data to be stored and calculated in ciphertext throughout the process, and it is the only database in China that has passed the international CC EAL4+ certification. In Huawei's internal MetaERP system, GaussDB encrypts top-secret data such as cost accounting in the ERP system to ensure data security, and the workload of SQL transformation is zero.

In terms of scalability, GaussDB supports large-scale distributed clusters, free horizontal expansion of computing and storage, supports 256+ fragments, and the data volume can reach PB level, which solves the problem of database expansion. Huawei's terminal cloud cloud space business uses the GaussDB distributed cluster solution. The largest cluster has 70+ fragments, and the expansion cycle has been increased from days to hours, which has completed the challenge of high maintenance costs.

In terms of migration, GaussDB has a one-stop migration solution. UGO helps customers evaluate the relatively accurate workload and make a migration plan; DRS allows data migration to be online, with zero interruption, and the verification and comparison function makes data loss zero; traffic playback , can capture real production traffic, solve the problem that ordinary POC and other routine tests cannot accurately feedback business performance, and change the entire migration from uncertain worries to deterministic plans. On the day of Huawei's MetaERP business switchover, GaussDB completed the migration of 320 billion rows of heterogeneous data in 35 hours, and achieved zero loss, zero duplication, and zero errors.

At the conference, evaluation certificates were also issued on-site for the database products that passed the "Trusted Database" evaluation of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology in the first half of 2023. Among them, HUAWEI CLOUD GaussDB has passed three tests including the stability test of distributed transactional database, the performance test of distributed transactional database, and the basic capability test of fully encrypted database, and has been widely recognized by the industry.

By simulating the real scene of financial business load, the test set up 11 test items such as CPU, storage, and network injection faults, as well as simulating single node faults, recovery verification, etc., to verify the stable operation ability and fast fault speed of the database under fault conditions. resilience. The test results show that the HUAWEI CLOUD GaussDB database has excellent performance in terms of functional continuity and performance under high CPU load, high hard disk load, high memory load, high read/write load, network jitter, network packet loss, and network packet damage. The performance is excellent. After the fault disturbance is removed, it can quickly and automatically recover, which meets the requirements of the evaluation and fully verifies the stability of GaussDB in severe fault scenarios.

Distributed transactional database performance testing

In this test, HUAWEI CLOUD GaussDB met the test requirements in terms of distributed transaction performance, ACID capabilities, and high availability capabilities of core services in financial scenarios, and passed all 12 testing items. This evaluation fully proves that the GaussDB database has very outstanding performance, meets the high-performance requirements of enterprises for databases, and has been highly recognized by the industry.

Fully secret database basic ability test

In this test, the HUAWEI CLOUD GaussDB database 100% passed all four capability domains in the evaluation standard of "Technical Requirements for Big Data Full-Secret State Database" with a total of 30 capability items, covering full-cycle data encryption and encryption data processing , encryption algorithm and key management, and basic database capabilities. This shows that through independent innovation, GaussDB has broken through the challenges in the field of database dense computing, and can provide user data with full life cycle security capabilities.
