The win10 disk management D disk cannot choose to expand the volume

I want to expand some space for the D drive, but after compressing the space of the E drive, the unallocated space cannot be expanded to the
D drive. I tried the following and finally succeeded in allocating it

  1. Compress the D disk space, only choose 1G size, after compression, the expansion volume option of D disk will appear, but you can only choose to expand the 1G space, you cannot expand the unallocated space just compressed by other disks
  2. Directly format the E disk and delete the volume (files will be deleted, please pay attention to backup), so that all unallocated space will be unified, and then choose to expand the volume to expand all the space
  3. After the allocation is complete, recompress and create a new simple volume from the unallocated space to regenerate the E disk

Note: This method is only applicable when the formatted disk has no important files. If you need to format, please pay attention to backup data
