IC interview, you must be prepared for these (interview questions from major manufacturers are attached)

Everyone knows that the performance of the interview will be of great importance to personal career development. It can not only determine whether to hire, but also affect the later salary negotiation, so you must make full preparations before the interview.

How to prepare for the interview?

Here, it is recommended that the expression on the resume be as objective and professional as possible, and use numbers and professional terms more, especially when introducing the technical content in charge. Try to put the most important content on the front of the resume.

After preparing your resume, you can prepare a self-introduction: the content is basically the same as the resume, with colloquial expression, and the focus should be more project-oriented.

Finally, make a special document, write clearly the design ideas and technical details in the project, complete the system block diagram and architecture diagram, read and draw several times when you have time, because even if it is something you have done yourself , If you are not familiar with it, you will stutter during the interview and it will not go smoothly.

Organize knowledge points

Generally speaking, there are two types of questions encountered in professional interviews, one is professional basic knowledge, which is the content that people in this field should know more or less, such as what is the whole process of ASIC design; ; Signal processing across clock domains; Timing analysis, etc.

The other is specialized field knowledge. This part of the content comes from the business direction of the company's department, or the student's project/internship/competition experience. For example, some people are very familiar with the AMBA bus; some people are very good at digital signal processing; Some people know a lot about computer architecture and so on.

How should the content of the project be introduced?

What kind of project did you participate in (is it a SoC design or an image processing algorithm FPGA implementation? How many people did it together?); What kind of work did you undertake (RTL design/verification of a certain IP?); What kind of achievements have you made? Outcome (completed a function? made an area or speed optimization?).

What if there is no project? Then make a design and package it as a lab project.
What if there are too many items? Focus on the most difficult one, the one with the highest gold content.

That's right, projects are different from project to project, and not all projects can play the role of interview bonus points.

At present, it is difficult for most college students to get access to tape-out projects. The main reason is that tape-out is too expensive and the cycle is too long. Only schools such as Xidian, Chengdian, and South University of Science and Technology can afford it.

What the school can do more is the FPGA project, which has caused many major students to take the FPGA position first after graduation, and after a short time, they want to switch to front-end design.

What kind of person can get a high salary offer?

An engineer once answered this way: I have participated in some interviews, but I am all technical. I think the HR of my company will first ask for an academic background, and try to be a related major.

Second, express boldly and take responsibility. This kind of character is to solve the problem, to find a way to solve it, not to shirk. Bold expression is a very important quality.

And hard work. In fact, the IC industry is not only a deeply cultivated industry, but also a really demanding industry. Endure hardship, can you endure hardship? If your family is a rich second generation, I guess HR will pass you off first. Because we also have a lot of interviews like this, Beijing's research institutes generally don't like to ask for children from Beijing, why, he can't bear the hardship.

Details are the devil. If you want to enter the IC industry, whether it is design or verification, ask a few more why. Including that we will have an exam. This exam may have some questions that are relatively open, and some questions are very detailed. You must ask a few more whys in your usual study and work, so that you can say in future interviews that it is very important to be organized, express, and resolute when expressing.

IC factory interview questions (all available at the end of the article)

1. Huawei
Huawei is indeed the most popular existence, the training is very good, the platform is superb, and it is especially recognized for job-hopping. The salary in the past few years is also super beautiful. This year, when the salary of many companies has skyrocketed, the salary of level 14 is not bad. Level 15 is more beautiful. But many IC people have a Watson dream. Therefore, there are a lot of people around you who voted for Huawei, a lot of people interviewed, and a lot of people passed the pool.

Interview experience:
understanding of asynchronous circuits in written test questions, how to synchronize,
understanding of formal verification,
how to deal with cross-clock domains,
and then asked about results, competitions, etc.
Then began to ask about projects, draw project block diagrams, and explain how to write
registers.
A serial-to-parallel conversion reference model, the input is 1bit, the output is 256bit, and when valid is valid, the output of Huawei’s official approval also took three rounds. Anyway, except for the comprehensive surface, all aspects are tearing code or doing questions.

2. MediaTek
is a Taiwan-based company, with overtime pay for overtime work, more signing fees, beautiful year-end bonuses, good training, a large platform, and a high degree of recognition for job-hopping. Although the base is not very beautiful, but with the addition of overtime pay, signing fees and some regional government subsidies, Fa Ge is still yyds this year

Interview experience:
Self-introduction in English in one minute.
What does your bridge do and its function?
If your AHB to APB Bridge has multiple slaves, what should you do?
Several agents in the MCDF verification environment
cried because they did a good job in the written test, as well as questions about C and python, algorithms and data structures (binary tree, stack). Tell me
about
the components of the component and object.
The Factory mechanism
asked some questions about SV and Knowledge of UVM
IC verification process
Do you still invest in other companies?
Tell me about your AHB’s trans
AHB’s burst.
Give an example of the AHB burst-related protocol.
The test points of the AHB and APB projects. How did you formulate
your master’s project? , what problem did you encounter
and how to solve it

3. Zeku

Oppo's wholly-owned subsidiary is willing to spend money and expands quickly. Today, the company has more than 2,000 employees and ranks among the largest IC manufacturers in terms of scale. The salary is beautiful, Xi’an cabbage is 35W+, Beijing and Shanghai cabbage is 41W+, and now the film has been successfully taped and applied to oppo’s new folding screen mobile phone, zeku has a promising future~

Interview experience: Understand the process and tools of IC design of
undergraduate and graduate courses, blocking and non-blocking, the difference between registers and latches , dynamic arrays, queues, fixed-width arrays, and associative arrays. How is your priority measured? Hardware DUT and How the verification environment is related Understand the constraints in SV Why switch to verification IC verification process What problems did you encounter in the project and how did you solve them? What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses? If you come to the company, your colleagues will Better than you, how do you narrow the gap ? How do you get along with everyone? How do you deal with the competitive relationship among colleagues?

4. UNISOC

An established IC manufacturer with a good platform, easy to change jobs, and low salary. Other companies like to recruit Zhanrui people, which has led to a serious loss of personnel in Zhanrui in the past two years. It is a company that everyone will submit their resumes and discuss, but because The salary is persuasive, but there are many intentional stocks for SSP later.

Interview experience:
Introduce yourself.
There will be a time difference between your DUT data and the UVM verification platform data. What should you do about this? How do you know that the data for comparison is the data at that time point
? Chnl1 sent a few trans, and there was an interruption, and then sent chnl2, how should you arbitrate this part? Specifically, you should look at the protocol of chnl and formatter, the protocol characteristics of AHB and APB, and the comparison between the two protocol features
. High-speed high-bandwidth, why is the rate of a low-speed low-power
AHB bus higher than that of APB?

5. ZTE

Compared with other companies, the salary is not very competitive, but it is good to be willing to recruit non-scientific people for training. However, ZTE’s salaries for the bosses are very beautiful, and the blue sword is even more beautiful

Interview experience:
Tell me about your
APB protocol AHB TO APB What coverage have
you done ? What are the types of code coverage? Code coverage, function coverage, and assertion coverage? Code coverage is divided into line coverage,
Branch coverage, state machine coverage, flip coverage
What is Scoreboard for?
Why choose verification
? Do you have a boyfriend?

Due to space limitations, the topics of all major manufacturers are not listed one by one. If you want to know the issues that need to be paid attention to in IC interview resumes, or the preparations that need to be made before the interview, you can ask the engineer first (the above interview topics for major manufacturers can be collar)
