How should civil engineers break the situation when they are frustrated in the workplace? Switching to IT Internet seems to have become the first choice!

"After two years of graduating from university, I have been fighting internally. I don't want to continue to do engineering, and I don't know what else I can do when I leave the construction site?"

I graduated from a first-class college with a major in architectural environment and energy application engineering, which is civil engineering in layman's terms.

Entering a construction unit is the destination of most civil engineers. Many undergraduate graduates choose to go to state-owned or central enterprises such as China Railway and China Construction. In the eyes of outsiders, state-owned enterprises are stable, have good benefits, mature management, and many recruitment positions. For graduates who are in a period of employment confusion, it is difficult not to be attracted.

1. Entering the workplace for the first time

During the autumn recruitment, I successfully entered a certain bureau of China Railway.

In the next two years, I wandered around with the project, the working conditions were difficult, and there were almost no holidays. I gradually understood why the seniors often laughed at themselves as "senior handymen" after work.

The job requires online 24 hours a day, waiting for inspection and management at any time. It is common to work overtime when pouring concrete. I stay until 11 o'clock in the evening. After going back to wash, I still get up at 6 o'clock the next day.

Doing things in a cycle like this every day, the process is the same, the work is not innovative, and there is no way out after two years of work. In addition, the industry is no longer as prosperous as it was in the past, and it is gradually declining. It is difficult to get ahead.

The more you work, the more confused you become. Compared with the physical discomfort caused by working overtime day and night, it is more psychological exhaustion. I don't know which way I want to go in the future, watching my familiar colleagues leave one by one, I feel mixed feelings.

2. Meet Huizhi

I also want to work from 9 to 6 with two days off. I am eager to have my own life, and the idea of changing careers is getting stronger and stronger. During those days, I began to search for career-changing jobs and ways to change careers on the Internet.

Because my university major was transferred, I have always liked the Internet industry very much. I re-chosen my career direction and hope to develop in the Internet.

Later, under the recommendation of a friend, I came into contact with Huizhi Power, and after a comprehensive comparison, it met my career expectations, so I chose to study software testing here.

It is quite difficult to learn at the beginning, mainly because there is no computer foundation, and the content of software testing is unfamiliar. The teacher is very experienced in this point, and divides the knowledge into lectures. Then there are questions about the memory of knowledge points and project operation. It takes time to understand and review by yourself, and you need to practice more and ask more questions.

After the course, there will be a mock interview. The employment teacher also provided me with a lot of help. With her recommendation, I joined the current company and realized my expectations for the job.

3. Thoughts on career change

Looking at the matter of changing careers now, I find that it is really not as difficult as I imagined. What is really difficult is whether you can think clearly about your position, whether you dare to choose, and whether you have enough determination and perseverance.

This is not to encourage civil engineers to change careers. Every industry has its own advantages and disadvantages, but some people really don’t like the construction site environment, or don’t like this industry, so it’s understandable to choose a new one.

There is also a way to go outside the civil engineering circle. It’s just that entering a new industry requires accumulation and exercise. Every choice has a price. You must adjust your mentality and be prepared to start from scratch. I believe everyone can find a job they love.
