[Abstract] This paper takes the core storage expansion project as the background, and realizes the goal of reclaiming and expanding the original core storage space by migrating some business data to heterogeneous storage. Based on the comprehensive consideration of business characteristics, basic environment configuration, business continuity, and technology maturity, we finally chose to migrate heterogeneous storage from the operating system level. Although the migration plan and implementation technical means may not be the best and latest, the success of this data migration has accumulated successful feasibility experience for the practice of heterogeneous storage migration. , the migration implementation process and practical effects were summarized and reviewed respectively.
1. Background of Heterogeneous Storage Migration
The background of heterogeneous storage migration is mainly the product of comprehensive decision-making based on the technical background of localized solutions, comprehensive core system transformation and migration, and the life cycle of related storage devices. If the cutover is performed from the business system level, the computing and storage resources will be newly built, and the heterogeneous storage migration will need to meet the function and performance requirements of the new business system and run stably; if the original technology stack does not change, the storage For device data migration, it is necessary to fully understand the detailed usage requirements of the current system. After replacement of functions, performance, and services, there is still room for expansion, and the support will be relatively limited. This article is the latter case.
2. Migration target
The confirmation of the core storage migration target requires a clear understanding of the number of business systems carried by the original storage system, level classification, batch events, backup period, maintenance window, and disaster recovery architecture, and a comprehensive determination is made after coordination and communication with business personnel and related systems. The specific migration plan needs to collect information, including but not limited to the following points. Ultimately, proven and mature technologies or solutions with good support should be used to achieve the goal of heterogeneous storage migration.
