1.1 Preparing for operation
Preparation tools: VMware Workstation, Windows Server 2016 image
The VMware version shown in this tutorial is the Pro version, and the host win10 system
You can download the image of Windows Server 2016 from MSDN ( MSDN, I tell you - make a quiet tool station ), and select Windows Server 2016 Simplified Chinese version in the operating system column
After preparing the above tools, we can create a new folder in the computer to store images and virtual machines, try not to put them in the system disk, and support Chinese paths.
For example, I created it like this:
1.2 Start the installation
Open VMware, file in the upper right corner - create a new virtual machine
Choose Typical, then Next
Choose to install the operating system later
Select the corresponding system version, here we should choose Windows Server 2016
The name of the virtual machine can be customized, and the location can be placed in the folder we just prepared
Just choose the default
Click Customize Hardware to modify the hardware configuration
Here, I have adjusted the memory to 4GB. For the image, I need to select the image I just downloaded, and close it after the setting is complete.
Start the virtual machine directly
If you have been stuck on this interface, just restart it
Click on the small arrow on the right of the pause, and you can pull it out to restart the operation panel
After a normal restart, you will enter this interface, click Next
install now
Don’t activate it yet, install the system first, and after the system installation is complete, you can activate it yourself
From top to bottom, there are two versions, the top two are the standard version, and the bottom two are the data center version
Those with the word desktop experience are servers with a graphical interface, while those without desktop experience have no graphical command line interface
Here we choose the second one, the standard version (desktop experience)
Accept the terms and go to the next step
choose custom
Next step
Wait for the installation, then it will automatically restart
Set a login password, password security requirements are higher
Virtual machine in the upper left corner - send Ctrl+alt+del, then enter the password to enter the system
At this point, the system installation is complete
1.3 Initial System Operation
After we have installed the system, we can perform some initial settings, such as creating snapshots and installing VMware tools
Create a snapshot:
Enter the name of the snapshot and customize it. It is recommended to use words such as system initialization for the snapshot at this time
The function of the snapshot is to record the state of the system at this time. When we accidentally perform other operations later and cause the system to crash, we can quickly roll back to the system state when the snapshot was created through the snapshot manager. However, after the snapshot is created All operations will disappear. Therefore, we need to develop the habit of creating snapshots frequently, but too many snapshots will increase the space occupied by the virtual machine accordingly, so please consider for yourself.
Install VMware tools
The main function of VMware tools is to establish the connection between the virtual machine and the host, which can realize file dragging and clipboard sharing, and also optimize the use of the mouse, which is very convenient

Generally speaking, the option to install will pop up automatically after a while, but the waiting time will be longer, we can also manually operate to reduce the waiting time
Press and hold win+e, bring up the resource manager, switch to this computer, double-click to open the DVD drive
Select the default typical installation, the next step
Click Install and wait for the installation to complete
choose restart
At this point, the initialization of the system is complete
Usually we can directly click this button to hang up when we are not using it, and click to start it when we use it next time, which saves the step of starting up
1.4 Postscript
1. When you install the system, try to install it on a solid-state hard disk, because this is a system that requires more hardware. If it is running on a mechanical hard disk, the running speed will be very, very slow.
