Qualcomm 8155 cockpit becomes mainstream
The integration of cabin driving has become the development trend of the next generation
The Qualcomm 8155 cockpit has become the absolute mainstream, and the newly released models with more than 200,000 cars at the auto show are basically all Qualcomm 8155 chips. The new trend this year is that Global Tier1 has begun to showcase Qualcomm's next-generation smart cockpit products . (Visteon and Aptiv)

The so-called cockpit fusion refers to turning two different domain controller boxes into a more integrated box in terms of hardware, and using a fused computing system to support both intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit functions. However, in today's cockpit fusion domain controllers, the two systems are actually relatively independent, especially those computing power systems that are fused domain controllers built by multiple chips.
The Qualcomm 8295 chip adopts a 5nm process, and the NPU computing power reaches 30TOPS, which is twice that of the Apple A15 chip. High bandwidth required for gigabit upload and download capabilities.
In 2023, the industry will gradually break down the barriers between the two systems, and plan from the overall system, instead of each SoC chip still using its own peripheral circuit design. The overall design of cabin-driving integration will have higher integration, lower BOM cost, and more thorough integration.
Qualcomm 8295 has announced at the time of release that the first mass-produced car of Jidu will be the first model, and the mass-produced car equipped with a new digital cockpit is expected to be launched in Q3 of 2023. Xiaomi car (MS11 model) also integrates 8295, which is expected to be available in Q2 in 2024. At present, Tier 1 that has joined the Qualcomm 8295 camp includes Bosch-Chelian, Visteon/Yanfeng Visteon, Aptiv, Desay SV, etc.

AR-HUD Penetration Improvement
AR function becomes the future focus of smart cockpit
The smart cockpit has begun to focus on the use of AR functions. Two representative examples are the AR-HUD and the AR smart cockpit created by NIO and Unreal. RAYTHINK launched a new generation of ARHUD solutions at this auto show. (FOV>20 degrees)
In terms of AR-HUD, as the technology itself becomes more mature in 2023, the penetration rate of AR-HUD will increase significantly, and it will no longer be limited to the mid-to-high-end model market. In terms of display content, AR-HUD will add more content to the display unit, such as the tire pressure, fuel level and battery life displayed on the original instrument panel. In addition, AR-HUD will be linked with the camera system to add information such as speed limit and lane guidance.
In terms of AR smart cockpit, 2023 will still be the main entertainment. Statistics show that the current daily active users of new energy vehicles spend an average of nearly one hour a day in a parking state, which is a very valuable time for human-vehicle interaction. From the feedback from NIO car owners, it can be seen that the current car owners have a good reputation for AR viewing in the cockpit. The next task is to enrich the content and improve the experience.
The application of VR in the smart cockpit is called the smart cockpit metaverse , which is also car VR glasses + movies/games. It is expected that with the success of NIO Air Glasses AR glasses, in 2023, car companies will try the new model of VR glasses.
