Thoughts on the 2020 M Awards

Thinking about it, I still have to write about my impressions of this competition.
There are 3 people in the team, and only I am a person who has taken a mathematical modeling course, and the other two teammates have zero foundation for modeling. One is slightly biased towards liberal arts, and fortunately, the School of Electronics is science and engineering.

The team formed before the winter vacation originally planned to go to school a few days in advance to make up in advance, but due to the epidemic, this plan was completely ruined. It was nice to find a mentor who sent us a few papers a few days before the competition. I just realized that the game time was approaching. So I looked for the competition topics and O award papers from the last 5 years, and some other model materials (actually, they were sent by Taobao’s assistant registration) about 3 or 4 days in advance. I started to write in the
group Calling everyone to read the topics of previous years and O award papers together, the basic process is to look at the topic -> try to write your own ideas -> discuss -> select various parts of the O award paper (the model part is basically skipped, some are too It’s too complicated, we are all novices who can’t understand it). In the beginning, such a process used to take about 3 or 4 hours, from about 8 am to lunch time. I have been making WeChat calls, and my voice is going to be hoarse. In the end it became a bit perfunctory. Finally, it is concluded that it will be relatively simple to do the following policy questions.
The preliminary preparations are really not very sufficient, but the word templates found on the Internet (because they don’t know how to use latex, and the time is tight and there is no time to learn), and what kind of model to use for what type of problem .
The day before the competition, I ended the discussion relatively early, saying that I wanted to have a good rest, planned to get up early to read the questions, and planned to finish the competition in week 1 as much as possible, because the online classes will start in week 2, which is more troublesome.
The question is 3 people read 3 questions each. I think A is okay because of the continuity problem. The other friend who read the question B may like football. The partners all felt that B was more complicated and data processing was difficult, but it was relatively fast and finally started on A.
It is really painful to find data in the middle, and it is also painful to process data. . . Skip it here.
In fact, the models we use are not very complicated, and we only use matlab for programming, and excel for data processing. In fact, don't underestimate excel, its functions are still quite powerful. The division in the middle is quite clear. The small partner of the partial text is mainly responsible for writing, and another small partner and I are responsible for modeling. But I will carefully revise and review the grammar and words every time I finish writing a part. I also wrote the final summary and a letter, and then revise it. In those few days, I woke up at 6 in the morning and started to speak. Except for taking a break when eating, my mind was full of those two kinds of fish. There were also difficult times in the middle, but luckily I persevered.
I am really surprised that I can win the M award, because I am not very familiar with these two friends, and it is the first time to form a team. Perhaps it is for this reason that everyone should be more serious, and no one is ashamed to be lazy.
There is nothing dry in this article, it's just some nonsense, so let's record a competition.
