In June 2019, Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei launched the Huawei "Genius Youth" project, a project that uses top challenges and top salaries to attract top talents. He also stated that Huawei will recruit 20-30 young geniuses from all over the world, and plans to recruit 200-300 young geniuses from all over the world in 2020.
It wasn't just last month that Huawei's latest genius boy was released.
His name is Ning Boyu, 26 years old, from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and he is a 2019 doctoral student at the State Key Laboratory of Communication Anti-jamming Technology.
After being picked by Huawei this time, the business he will join is the wireless product line and the optical product line.
Ning Boyu published as many as 21 papers during his four-year Ph.D. period, of which 16 papers were published as the first author.
Before finally getting the million-dollar annual salary offer from Huawei's "genius boy", he went through more than a dozen rounds of interviews and stood out from many competitors.
However, Ning Boyu's statement on the result was relatively low-key:
I am just an ordinary student, and I am lucky to be selected this time! Because my research direction is highly related to Huawei's future topics.
Moreover, Ning Boyu is different from the scientific research workers in the traditional impression, and has many distinctive labels on him——

Ph.D. four years, 21 papers
According to the official introduction, Ning Boyu had already obtained the qualification for insurance research during his undergraduate period, and entered the teaching and research section early in his senior year.
Under the tutelage of Professor Chen Zhi, the first project he embarked on a scientific research journey was based on theoretical research on secure transmission at the physical layer of millimeter-wave communications.
During his first year of research, Ning Boyu went to Oxford University to carry out scientific research training with the support of the school's "Leading Talents Program".
After returning to China, he aimed at the design of hybrid beamforming in Gaussian eavesdropping channels, and proposed a codebook-based combined matching and tracking algorithm, which has significantly improved the security rate compared with traditional methods.
Later, for the problem of analog beam selection for multi-stream data transmission, Ning Boyu proposed an optimal power allocation scheme.
The above two studies were successfully published on IEEE WCL and IEEE GLOBECOM.
According to data from Google Scholar, Ning Boyu has published papers since 2017, and has 25 papers so far, with the highest number of citations being 116.
According to the official introduction, Ning Boyu has published a total of 21 papers in top journals/conferences in the field of communication in the four years of his Ph.D. Among them, 11 papers are for the JCR-Q1 division in the field of communication, and 10 papers are for the IEEE flagship meeting. As a student, he participated in the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Not only that, Boyu Ning is also a reviewer for 12 international journals including IEEE WCM, IEEE JSAC, IEEE JSTSP, IEEE TWC, IEEE TCOM, IEEE TVT, IEEE WCL, IEEE CL, and has reviewed more than 50 manuscripts in total.
Such achievements are very proud in the eyes of most people, but Ning Boyu modestly thinks that this is "the counterattack road of the imbecile".
Self-deprecating as an "imbecile"
In a video in 2020, Ning Boyu released a work titled "Talking about the counterattack of imbecile children".
In the video, he repeatedly emphasized that he is "mentally retarded" and is an "imbecile", and he also matched it with various funny expressions and movements 
.
But even so, in the process of Ning Boyu's counterattack, his "unconvinced" energy can be seen at a glance.
From junior high school to high school, Ning Boyu, as a top student, is very different from other top students; he will explore many hobbies that interest him: such as taekwondo, hip-hop, high jump, etc.
Especially in terms of street dance, although Ning Boyu is very modest to say that he is not as professional as he is, he has won awards frequently so far: National University of Singapore Street Dance Night Champion Award, Campus Talent Show Individual Champion...
Another example is the high jump. He also broke the 24-year high jump record in high school (Chengdu No. 4 Middle School).
When he was in college, while actively participating in various school activities, he did not delay his academic performance.
Even in order to study, Ning Boyu would choose to turn off the lights in the dormitory, move to the toilet, and study all night by the lights; in his own words, "People are really forced out."
It may also be because of Ning Boyu's drive that his undergraduate grade point reached 3.93/4.
And during his undergraduate period, Ning Boyu submitted 3 papers (2 SCI papers and 1 international top conference) as a first author, and finally 2 papers were accepted.
Ning Boyu also made a summary of his counterattack experience:
The most important reason why I can achieve such results is that I am very passionate when I do everything.
I have a habit of not doing it if I don't want it, and doing it desperately if I want to.
Although I have many hobbies, I devote myself wholeheartedly to everything I do.
