Galaxy Unicorn (linux arm64) install new version of Google Chrome

purpose statement

Chrome has not yet launched a software package for the arm architecture. Only Chromium can be downloaded. (Chrome is packaged based on Chromium, and Chromium is completely open source.)

package installation

First check whether your system software source comes with a Chromium browser

sudo apt-cache search chromium-browser

Look at the Chromium version and other information

sudo apt-cache show chromium-browser

As you can see from the picture, the version of Chromium is 85the latest version, and 85the version is about two years ago.

sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

After executing the above command, I found that the downloaded 83version 83is a bit old, and some styles are not supported yet, and after logging in to the Google account, it is not very usable.

Then I went to Chromium's official website and downloaded the latest 85version of the software package. (For those who don’t have Chromium in the software source, you can go to the official website to have a look. The URL is at the end of the article.)

After double-clicking and installing, there are two Chromium browsers in my system. I opened the newly installed one and found that it is the 106version of No, what's going on?

Supplementary Note

When using the package downloaded from the official website for installation, chromium is installed as a snap package, and the path is generally at /home/xxxx/snap/chromium.
If you want to uninstall chromium installed on the official website, you cannot uninstall it through apt-get, but through snap .
View all snap packages:

snap list

uninstall chromium

sudo snap remove chromium
