Using 3dsmax 2022, after installing the datasmith plug-in, I found that the export does not have a datasmith file format.
According to my solution to the problem, the cause of the error may be that the installed version is too high.
It is best to use 3dsmax 2016-2022 (applicable to Unreal Engine 4.27)
Note : When choosing a version, don’t look at the supported Unreal Engine, but at the supported 3dsmax version. All Unreal Engines can be used in the dataSmith files exported by all versions.
So our steps to solve the problem are
1. Uninstall the high version UnrealDatasmith plug-in
2. Install the low version plug-in
2. Uninstall the UnrealDatasmith plugin
A prompt will appear because the plug-in has been installed
Uninstallation scheme (choose one)
1. Find Unreal Datasmith Exporter for 3ds max in the list of applications and functions in the computer settings, and select Uninstall. (Simple)
2. Use the Windows Install Clean Up tool to uninstall (complex, need to go over the wall)
