WoSign announced today that it has completed its equity investment in StartCom, an Israeli CA company. The two parties signed an equity purchase agreement on August 30 last year. Both parties actively cooperated to fulfill their respective obligations in accordance with the agreement, and completed the first equity investment on September 19 this year. Phased work, and according to the agreement, both parties will issue an announcement today.
WoSign and StartCom have been closely cooperating since 2010. Not only does StartCom root certificate provide cross-signature services for WoSign root certificates, but StartCom has been using its advanced technical advantages to provide WoSign with PKI technical services, guiding Wotong successfully passed WebTrust International audit and pre-installed Wotong root certificate in various browsers and operating systems. The two parties have been sharing relevant infrastructure, technology development and related technical service resources to provide the best quality services to users of both parties.
After years of development, Wotong has become the world's first trusted and leading electronic certification service agency (CA) in the SSL certificate market in China, and StartCom has also developed into the sixth largest CA in the world, with users covering more than 200 countries and regions, both parties believe that it is necessary to cooperate more closely, give play to the advantages of both parties, and provide better products and better services for Chinese users and global users.
Wotong's investment in StartCom will help StartCom to expand the global market. The original StartCom system and management team remain unchanged. Wotong and StartCom operate and manage independently, and maintain the independent development of the two brands for a long time.
StartCom has set up branches in the UK and Spain after obtaining Wotong investment to provide better localized and high-quality services for European users and global users. At the same time, StartCom has set up a R&D center in China, and has developed other related products and services for StartCom except the StartSSL certificate product, and will launch other PKI related products and services in succession.
