How to Brake Correctly and Safely

Accelerating driving, turning, etc. may be a piece of cake for all friends. So, what is the real test of driving skills? Maybe it's the brakes! Once we do not operate the brakes properly, then the danger will follow.
Today, I will introduce the types of brakes and six braking techniques to my friends. If you master it all, you can do it with ease when it comes to braking.

Everyone knows that brakes include hand brakes and foot brakes, but according to the road conditions, there are the following three situations:
1. Predictive braking
Predictive braking, that is, preparatory braking. The method is to quickly lift the accelerator pedal, make full use of the engine's restraint, and at the same time lightly step on the brakes to reduce the speed of the car. When the car comes to a stop, step on the clutch pedal, put the transmission gear in neutral, and stop the car smoothly at the predetermined position.
Second, emergency braking
Emergency braking, as the name suggests, is the braking in case of emergency. The method is to quickly lift the accelerator pedal, and immediately press the brake hard, and at the same time pull the handbrake sharply to make the car stop quickly.

3. Braking
on downhill road Brakes play a vital role when going downhill, but you can't completely rely on the brakes to control the vehicle. When going downhill, slow down and engage in a gear that matches the speed of the vehicle. The brakes are only used as an aid.
During the driving process, friends should observe more, use anticipatory braking more, avoid emergency braking, and braking on downhill roads depends on the situation!
Next, the six braking techniques will be introduced in detail for you to use flexibly.

1. Before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, release the brakes once
In order to make the brakes more stable, the brakes should be released once before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, and then tap the brakes until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
2. Press the brake pedal hard when braking
in an emergency. In case of emergency, for vehicles equipped with ABS system, you should fully press the brake pedal to achieve rapid braking.

3. Use the emergency brake with caution when driving in rainy weather
Although the vehicles are now basically equipped with ABS systems, the phenomenon of wheel locking has been greatly improved. It is recommended to use emergency braking cautiously while driving in rainy weather.
4. Use engine braking as much as possible on
long downhills. According to road conditions, the gears of the transmission can be selected from 3rd, 2nd, L (automatic) or 3rd, 2nd, 1st (manual). ), without depressing the accelerator pedal, use the engine brake to control the vehicle speed.

5. Pay attention to the operation method of the brakes when turning. When you step on the
brakes in the direction, the vehicle will easily lose its center of gravity. Therefore, you should reduce the speed by braking before entering the curve. However, if it is too late to slow down, you can use the brakes briefly according to the situation. The emergency braking on the wet and slippery road is prone to flick, and the engine braking can be used to decelerate by lowering the gear box.
6. Pay attention to the bumps when driving on the
"rib road". The road surface of the "rib road" (washboard road) or sandy road has many bumps. When the vehicle passes by, the wheels will be suspended in the air instantly. At this time, the brakes are not only prone to short-term locking, but also prone to grabbing. In the direction of the situation, the engine brake should be used as much as possible.

After mastering these braking skills, I believe that the braking level of the friends will be greatly improved!
