Interview with Liu Fuqiang, founder and CEO of msup: Sharing software R&D management practices and becoming synonymous with pursuit of excellence in the data age

In recent years, the strategy of "informatization drives industrialization" has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, which has opened up a wider application field for information technology itself. Under such a large environment, the domestic IT training market has developed rapidly. So in the era of cloud computing and big data, how to make an enterprise's IT team stronger? A few days ago, a reporter from China's IDC circle had the honor to interview Liu Fuqiang, founder and CEO of msup, and gave detailed answers to the above questions.

(Msup founder and CEO Liu Fuqiang)

Reporter: As a training and consulting organization for software R&D teams, msup has been established for nearly 10 years. We all know that msup originated in Seattle, USA, so how did you think of starting your own IT training business when it was founded? What was the vision at the time?

Liu Fuqiang: The predecessor of msup is the special technology development group, which means Microsoft update, which helps more NET platform programmers quickly learn new technical features and new skills.

In 2005, I was fortunate to participate in the evangelism of Microsoft's release of the Vista Windows system and the new version of the NET platform, and shared the best practices of Microsoft's more than 30 years of research and development with the Chinese R&D managers and architects of Microsoft's Seattle headquarters, and promoted programmers across the country face to face. In mid-2006, Microsoft China improved the efficiency of evangelism and increased the online webcast learning method, and the msup group gradually faded out the frequency of offline face-to-face learning; until the beginning of 2007, we redefined the msup value proposition and transformed from technical tool training R&D management training, from helping programmers to serving TechLeader, behind this transformation made us rethink user value, what exactly is a technical team most needed? Basic development capabilities? R&D management? Architecture design? product management? quality of personnel, etc.

Finally, based on our own resources and delivery capabilities, we determined the vision of msup: sharing excellent software R&D management practices, inviting technical managers from well-known R&D companies at that time as guest coaches and consultants, and developing classics such as automated testing and architecture design. course. This year is our tenth year, and we have also made a new definition in terms of company vision: "tobe better, to msup." We hope to become synonymous with the pursuit of excellence in the future data age.

Reporter: In the era of cloud computing and big data, enterprise IT is facing accelerated transformation. How to make the IT team stronger is a difficult problem faced by enterprise managers. In your opinion, what are the common problems faced by the R&D teams of enterprises today? How will msup help companies solve these challenges?

Liu Fuqiang: There is no doubt that this is a rapidly changing Internet era. Today, with the rapid development of big data and artificial intelligence, the technical team has been pushed to the core position that all entrepreneurs must rebuild. According to past enterprise service experience, the required training or consultation mainly has the following three levels: first, to create a screaming product capability, the key link behind the product strategy; second, to reconstruct the efficiency of technology research and development, most organizations lose In engineering efficiency; third, building a competitive team humanities, affecting those cognitions of key roles. These are the common problems we see, and organizations vary slightly by industry, size, and stage.

Up to now, we have served more than 2,000 technology-based enterprises to complete iteration and improvement. The entry point of each enterprise is different. We will evaluate the best method to promote it. The most important thing is whether we get the right delivery. Benchmarking guest coaches, among which the main solutions are benchmarking case seminars, sand table workshops, in-house training coaching, and micro-consultation. We can creatively solve problems from a community and social perspective.

Reporter: So far, msup has become a large-scale technical training brand certified at home and abroad. Compared with other training institutions in the industry, what innovations does msup have in its own management and business model?

Liu Fuqiang: I have always believed that we are a new and cutting-edge training and consulting organization. The first has to do with our early founding team. Double-faced, yellow-skinned Chinese people have American genes. To put it bluntly, they know how to appreciate our own cultural values and are full of American geek technical thinking. Naturally, they show the unique self-confidence of this era in business development and like to use advanced technology. technology to manage all aspects; the second is related to our user group. The vast majority of the groups we serve are technology-based companies, and the people we deal with are also technical managers, which are simple, direct and efficient. Therefore, we have been operating in an outbound call center mode until today, and there is no dining table culture.

Reporter: You mentioned at the 2016 Global Software Case Study Summit: technology has had a huge impact on consumer thinking and processes, technology has had an impact on economic development, and behind the sharing economy is the technological economy. How should we understand the so-called "techno-economics"?

Liu Fuqiang: Everything runs according to natural development. This is a new economic category. I understand the logic of the world’s operation from a technical point of view. The current consumption scenarios and transaction links have evolved into technical interfaces and data algorithms. The future economy will be Operating on this intelligent technological planet, most of our actions are encoded.

Reporter: What do you think is the direction of technological development in 2017?

Liu Fuqiang: Many technology media are predicting artificial intelligence, and many manufacturers have also invested resources in the exploration. As for the prediction, we should leave it to the Global Software Case Study Summit at the end of the year. I think that as a part of the technology and economic ecology, our positioning is to track the excellent experience behind leading technology companies, and to unite those early application practitioners and develop benchmark cases as soon as possible to help more companies easily get the ability to benchmark.
