Successful counterattack, KaiOS surpassed iOS to become the second largest mobile operating system in India

According to  the latest data from DeviceAtlas  , in the first quarter of 2018, KaiOS has surpassed iOS to become the second largest mobile operating system in India. Android remains the most popular and continues to eat away at iOS market share in regions such as Malaysia.

KaiOS is a Linux-based mobile operating system launched  in 2017 with the goal of "combining the power of a smartphone with the affordability of a feature phone." The system is a replica of B2G (Boot to Gecko), the open source community successor to Firefox OS that Mozilla stopped developing in 2016. The main feature of KaiOS is to bring HTML5-based applications to non-touch devices, supporting 4G LTE, GPS and Wi-Fi, resulting in an optimized user interface, less memory and power consumption.

KaiOS is developed by KaiOS Technologies, a company headquartered in San Diego, California. On its official blog, KaiOS said that the system will have a new look this year, and by the end of 2018, it plans to provide services in more than 100 countries around the world.
