Centos installation and Xshell connection configuration

1. Baidu download and install VMware

2. Download centos

  Open https://www.centos.org, click "get centos now", click "DVD ISO" to download (you can also scroll down and click "more download choice"/"list of current mirrors" to choose more)

3. Create a new virtual machine

  1. Open VMware

  2. Click "Create New Virtual Machine"

  3. Next after selecting "Custom"

  4. Because the virtual machine hardware is backward compatible, here the hardware compatibility is selected by default and then "Next"

  5. Select "Next" after "Install the operating system later"

  6. Select linux for the guest operating system. Since the version downloaded is 64-bit centos 7, select centos 7 64-bit here. Next step

  7. Fill in the virtual machine name and location, the next step

  8. The processor defaults to 1, and the number of cores of each processor can be 1 or 2. Next step

  9. Set the virtual machine memory, 1024/2048......, the next step

  10. Select "Use bridged network" for network connection to directly access the external network, the next step

  11. SCSI controller selection default, next step

  12. Select the default virtual disk type, the next step

  13. Disk select "Create a new virtual disk", the next step

  14. Set the maximum disk size of the disk to 20G, 40G ect., select "Split the disk into multiple files", the next step

  15. Select the disk file, the next step

  16. Customize the hardware new CD/DVD (IDE) and select the downloaded centos image file (the virtual machine dynamically obtains the IP when the bridge is selected)

  17. In the custom hardware, you can add a printer as needed, whether the monitor selects "accelerated 3D graphics" (for playing games, generally no need to check), etc., complete

Fourth, install centos

  1. Turn on this virtual machine (ctrl+alt switch mouse)

  2. Select Chinese - Simplified Chinese (China)

  3. The visual interface is installed here, the software selects the basic environment, selects the GNOME desktop, and selects the required additional items

  4. Configure the root password, if you need to create other users, click Create User

  5. After installation, click "Restart"

  6. Click to agree to the license agreement

  7. You can choose whether to open Ethernet and whether to create a user

  8. Click "Complete Configuration" in the lower right corner

  9. Select Chinese, time zone select current location

  10. Write the home directory name and set the password

  11. Get started

Five, Xshell connection configuration

  1. Download and install Xshell

  2. Double-click to open Xshell, click the "New" icon in the upper right corner

  3. Enter the name and host (enter ifconfig in the virtual machine terminal to obtain) and click "User Authentication" on the left column

  4. Enter the user name and password of centos, and click "OK"

  5. If you need to set a proxy, click "Proxy" on the left column to add

  6. Select the new session in the pop-up window and click "Connect", the console output "Last login..." means the login is successful

 

Note: You can switch network connections (bridging, NAT, etc. mode switching) in Settings --> Network Adapters. After restarting the virtual machine, you need to manually open the network wired connection
