[WVR Series] PPTP PC-to-Site VPN Configuration Guide

Application introduction

The PC -to-Site mode of PPTP VPN can provide a secure tunnel for terminals to access the headquarters network. If you are away on business and can access the Internet , use the built-in VPN client dial-up connection of the terminal to establish a secure tunnel for data transmission.

This article introduces how to build a PPTP VPN server and use various types of clients to connect to the VPN .

Note: This article introduces the configuration method with the interface of the new version of the WVR series, and the interface setting method of the older version is similar.

Setting method

1. Set up PPTP VPN server

[1] Add VPN address pool

Log in to the router interface, click VPN > User Management > IP Address Pool , and click to create a VPN address pool.

[2] Add user

Click VPN > User Management , click to add the corresponding user (the user name must be long enough, otherwise you may not be able to log in, and the password should not be too long ):

Note: The local address is forbidden to be the same as the IP of the LAN/WAN interface, and any other non-conflicting IP can be used (such as: 10.xxx, 172.xxx, 192.xxx, etc.).

[3] Add PPTP server

Click VPN > PPTP > PPTP Server , click , and set as follows:

Note: The service interface is the outgoing interface that can access the Internet. The VPN client uses the IP address and domain name of the interface for VPN dialing.

[4] Add NAPT rules

Click Advanced Features > NAT Settings > NAPT , click , add the following NAPT rules, the purpose is to allow dial-up clients to access the Internet through this router:

Note: The source address range fills in the address of the VPN address pool, and the outbound interface selects the interface that can access the Internet.

So far, the PPTP VPN server has been set up.

2. Set up PPTP client dial-up

The client PPTP playback methods of computers, mobile phones or different operating systems are different. Please select the client operating system and refer to the corresponding guidance documents:

After the client dials successfully, the client information can be displayed in the PPTP server tunnel information.

Third, the connection is successful, access the network

After the terminal is successfully connected, the corresponding entry will be displayed in the VPN > PPTP > Tunnel Information List , as shown in the figure:

At this point, the PPTP VPN setting is successfully connected, and the VPN client can access the Internet and access the headquarters intranet.
