Access the computer in the local area network through the router (remote desktop function)

 Summary:

In daily office and work, it is normal for employees/students to have multiple computers. For example, for a graduate student or undergraduate student, it is normal for half of the staff to have a laptop. Although the functions of laptops are powerful enough, However, in office or study, sometimes we prefer to use desktop computers for research and study or office work, while notebooks are used as portable mobile office or entertainment. So the question is, do we need to install all the software we usually need on the desktop and laptop respectively? The answer is unnecessary. For this answer, how to balance the coordinated use of two computers, the suggestion given by the author is to use the remote desktop function of the computer.

The remote desktop of the computer is easy to use, but once the two computers are not under the same local area network, how to connect is a technical problem. But now the router function is perfect, and the virtual server function under the router can solve this problem very well. The next step is to set the router virtual server function to realize the remote desktop function under the same local area network.

 The steps to achieve remote desktop settings under different LAN segments are as follows (computers under the external network, remote desktop interaction for computers under the LAN of 192.1.....)

Step 1. Open the router setting interface, find "Advanced" -> "Virtual Server" -> "Start" to set the following parameters

For example, the host IP under the user's local area network is 192.168.2.2, and the default remote desktop port number is 3389. Knowing this, please fill in according to the content in the picture

Then click -> "Save"

Step 2. Enter -> "Device Status" -> "LAN/WAN" to check the IP address of your router {note that if this is the IP address of the public network, it is the IP address of your WAN port}

 Step 3. On the external network computer where you can access the Internet, open your computer -> "Start Menu" -> "Accessories" -> "Remote Desktop" -> "Enter the IP address of your router's WAN port" -> " Connect"-->"Click Yes in the pop-up box" to enter the controlled remote desktop.

Prompt, the computer under your local area network must open "Allow Remote", the specific steps, ---><right click on my computer>---><Advanced Settings>---><Enable Remote>

 Conclusion: The remote desktop port number is 3389. Forgetfulness can be considered a kind of calm, but important things are always forgotten, you are a fool.
