The official mailing list message from Linus Torvalds is as follows:

"I think a fairly quiet rc is a good sign for 4.16, but honestly, rc2 is generally pretty quiet. It's probably because of people taking a break after the merge window, but also just because it can take a while to find the problem. But let's Be optimistic and assume - at least for now - because everything is fine."

The current Linux 4.16 kernel should be officially released in stable form in early April. The Linux 4.16 merge window has modified 11,329 files, added 490,486 lines of code, and removed 304,188 lines of code. In other words, the Linux 4.16 kernel will weigh about 186 thousand lines of code.
