The first high school AI basic textbook is published: 40 key middle schools will introduce

Education should start from dolls, and AI can start from high school.

On April 28, the textbook "Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals (High School Edition)" was officially published. It was published by East China Normal University Press and Commercial Press. Tang Xiaoou, the founder of SenseTime and a professor at CUHK, participated in the editor-in-chief.

At the textbook conference, SenseTime also announced the awarding ceremony of the first batch of artificial intelligence education experimental base schools. A total of 40 high schools across the country became the first batch of experimental schools.

Among them, Shanghai has the most high schools, with a total of 7, including the Second Affiliated Middle School of East China Normal University, Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated Middle School, Shanghai Gezhi Middle School and other well-known key middle schools. In Beijing, there are Tsinghua High School, Minda High School, and Beijing No. 35 Middle School.

Basically, they are well-known key middle schools in various provinces and cities. Including the Chengdu No. 7 Middle School, which has cultivated AI giants such as Li Feifei, Wang Xiaochuan, and He Xiaofei.

At present, it is not known how SenseTime will cooperate with the first batch of experimental schools.

AI into high school textbooks

However, the introduction of AI into high school textbooks is the general trend, and national textbooks are already "on the way."

In January this year, the Ministry of Education held a special press conference to issue the "General High School Curriculum Plan and Curriculum Standards for Chinese and Other Disciplines (2017 Edition)".

The most striking of these is the addition of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data processing. The provinces and cities in the new curriculum standard textbooks will start the learning of AI-related knowledge in the form of "electives".

It is said that the revision, which has organized more than 260 experts over a period of four years, will be implemented from the fall 2018 semester.

However, the plumbing of the Spring River, some areas have already been flying first. For example, in Zhejiang, the artificial intelligence programming language Python was officially included in the content of the college entrance examination in Zhejiang Province in 2017.

Later, Beijing and Shandong, the major education provinces, also decided to incorporate the Python programming foundation into the content system of information technology courses and college entrance examinations.
