Mining Convention
Before block N is mined, block N+1 cannot be mined. Once block N is mined by a node, the node will announce it immediately, and other nodes will immediately start mining block N+1 after they hear it and write block N into the ledger.
Due to network delays, it is possible that two different nodes can mine block N at the same time. At this time, the main chain is bifurcated, and the mechanism of merging and bifurcation is to compare which chain is extended the longest.
