Renesas new product introduction--R-Car V3U

Overview

In December 2020, Renesas Electronics released an on-board SoC [R-Car V3U] for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and autonomous driving.
Samples are currently being shipped, and mass production is expected to start from April to June 2023.

R-Car V3U is equipped with a safety mechanism to quickly detect and control random hardware failures (incidental failures). In most signal processing, the automotive safety standard [ISO 26262] is expected to meet the requirements of the highest functional safety level [ASIL D].

Maximum 60TOPS deep learning processing performance

The maximum deep learning processing performance is 60TOPS (T Operations Per Second/sec), which provides deep learning for autonomous driving. In addition, the generation of heat is suppressed by low power consumption, and it is applied to the development of ECUs operated by air cooling. The CPU is equipped with four sets of Arm Cortex-A76CPU cores and one set of Cortex-R52, with a computing performance of up to 96,000 DMIPS (Dhrystone 1 million instructions per second).

It is also equipped with a DSP for radar signal processing, a multi-threaded computer vision engine, an image signal processor, and a Dense optical flow for detecting object movement. It can be used in combination with the company's on-board microcontroller [RH850], power management IC, power supply equipment, etc.
