PLDA announces that XpressLINK-SOC™ CXL controller IP supports AMBA CXS Issue B protocol

XpressLINK-SOC simplifies Arm- based SoC design and realizes efficient support for CXL and CCIX

San Jose, California--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PLDA, an industry leader in high-speed interconnect solutions, today announced that PLDA’s industry-leading XpressLINK-SOC™ CXL IP fully supports the AMBA® CXS Issue B (CXS-B) interface protocol. This support enables system-on-chip (SoC) designers to reduce latency and more easily implement CXL and CCIX multi-chip interconnect standards in their Arm®-based SoC solutions.

AMBA CXS is a credit-based streaming protocol that enables high-bandwidth data packet transmission between user applications and protocol controllers. Using the CXS interface, designers can bypass the transaction layer of the controller, which can significantly reduce latency. The CXS specification defines the interface between on-chip interconnects such as Arm CoreLink™ Coherent Mesh Network and PCIe or CXL controllers to optimize the transmission of CCIX and CXL data packets.

Dermot O'Driscoll, vice president of product solutions for Arm's infrastructure business line, said: "As we enter the next computing era, the speed at which we use data will only increase today. Applications such as high-speed storage and networking require more bandwidth and Seamless data transmission. PLDA adds support for CXS, which allows chip providers to quickly adopt high-performance CXL and CCIX multi-chip interconnect technologies to achieve higher computing performance and efficiency in these applications."

PLDA Chief Technology Officer Stephane Hauradou said: “Many emerging applications use Arm-based system- on- chip solutions, and these solutions require high-speed interconnects such as CXL or CCIX. With the support of PLDA’s XpressLINK-SOC for CXS-B, SoC Designers will speed up design time and improve system latency and performance."
