Solution to serious keyboard delay after Dell computer honey juice update (long-term update)

1.1 The beginning of the matter

In late June 2020, when I was preparing for the structural mechanics exam, I received a dell update notice while working on a laptop (dell G3 3579). This update includes BIOS updates, and a whole bunch of other messes.
I never thought that routine updates would cause me such a big trouble, so I pressed the update button.
The update is very slow, and it is still not finished almost when I was about to turn off the computer. I shut down the computer impatiently, and the update was forcibly interrupted overnight due to the shutdown.
The next day, the computer had a problem: as long as the power supply was plugged in, the exhaust fan kept spinning. But the keyboard is still normal at this time.
I think that the exhaust fan keeps spinning because I haven't finished the update, so I continue to update.
After the update, the exhaust fan worked normally, but the keyboard could no longer work normally, causing serious delays and malfunctions .

1.2 Development of things

This is a big trouble for me. I have to use a computer to read the test papers. I don’t know if I will use the keyboard. And I have to give up typing codes on this computer these days. This notebook contains a bunch of software that I have installed and a lot of accumulated information. Against this background, I started looking for information to try to solve this problem. (As of now, there is no perfect solution to the problem. But let me talk about the development of this incident.)
Someone mentioned that resetting the BIOS may solve this problem. There are two ways to reset the BIOS

  1. Press F2 when the dell icon appears. But my problem is that the keyboard is malfunctioning , so it doesn't work.
  2. Disassemble, remove the laptop battery and keep it for more than 15s.

I bought a screwdriver and wrench for dismantling the machine, and prepared to implement the second plan.
But before implementing this rather risky plan (I have never dismantled the machine myself before), I decided to go to the local professional dell repair shop first. After I explained the situation of the computer to the maintenance staff, he said that he thought it was a "system problem" and proposed to redo the system (it and one-key restore are two concepts- see this page known by Baidu for details ). I think this plan is too expensive, after all, I have too many things.
In this case, I thought of a method-see 1.3, 2. The success of this method allowed me to verify that resetting the BIOS is useless (but resetting is not complicated, so I recommend friends with similar problems Give it a try)

1.3 Solutions currently collected

  1. The prerequisite for the redo system to work is that your keyboard failure must be a pure software problem. I am more and more suspicious that my forced shutdown interruption during the update caused some degree of hardware damage. Because of this, the BIOS reset does not work for me. (Therefore, update cautiously. Updates are risky. I have found that because of some messy issues after the update, the computer cannot be used normally, so you have to restore or redo the system with one click. If you update, make sure to update Stability, to avoid low-level errors such as unplugging the power supply and shutting down the computer during the update.
  2. Buy a USB keyboard emergency. Haha, I didn't expect to be so low-level. But it worked well and solved my urgent need. Note that it is more convenient for a notebook to use a USB keyboard.
  3. Reset the BIOS. This method has been mentioned on many occasions, and it is not expensive. So, I suggest you try if possible.

1.4 At present, further guessing the direction of solving the problem

If it's a hardware problem, then I won't be bothered, because I can't solve it by myself, so I can only apply for repair.
If it is a system problem, I think that the maintenance staff said too general, there should be a way to prescribe the right medicine. After all, I did not only update the BIOS at the time, I also added more things.
###############Dividing line: Sorry, it was solved as early as August, and it has been updated until now ###############

1.5 Complete solution of the problem

There is no problem with the hardware of my computer, so what is the problem? The answer lies in the
"update is very slow, almost when I was about to turn off the computer, it was still not finished. I shut down the computer impatiently, and the update was forcibly interrupted overnight due to the shutdown."
This is the key.
After a computer expert looked at my computer, he asked about this situation. He immediately pointed out keenly that there must be something tricky here. According to him, if the update is interrupted and updated again, the new bios system may be imperfect. So why doesn't reset work? He has a hypothesis: the reset is only a reset of the bios system, and the system parameters cannot be reset to the original state, and the parameters can no longer be reset (of course, I am only clear about this assumption, specific Still don't understand, because I haven't learned the principles of computer design). So since the parameters cannot be returned, what else can we do? The answer is to update the bios again ! To
use each updated version of the bios given on the official website, be sure to download the update program according to your model. Note that there are two types of updates, and you must ensure that you use it when the battery is still charged!
