How to make a Win10 installation U disk with UEFI boot?
The boot speed of the system installed in UEFI mode is significantly faster than that of the system installed in Legacy mode.
How can Windows 10 be installed on the computer via a USB flash drive in UEFI mode?
key point:
1. The format of the USB flash drive must be FAT32
2. Do not use ISO image to make UEFI installation U disk, but use the official Microsoft tool.
3. Boot BIOS settings, it is best to set Secure boot to Disabled and OS Optimized Defaults to Disabled or Others.
Tools/Materials

MediaCreationTool
-
Smooth network
-
U disk above 8GB
U disk format
-
1
First prepare a U disk of 8GB or more, and quickly format it to FAT32 format.
(This is because, to be booted by UEFI, the format of the U disk must be FAT32)
END
Official tools make installation disk

The ISO image of Windows 10 after 1903 (referring to the ISO image of Windows 10 released after March 2019) burned to the U disk can not realize UEFI boot.
This is because a single file of the FAT32 format U disk is not allowed to be larger than 4GB, and there is a single file named install.wim in the ISO image with a size of 4.03GB.
-
We can only use the official Microsoft tool-MediaCreationTool to make an installation U disk that supports UEFI boot.
Please Baidu "Download Win10", find the official website, and download this tool.
-
Ensure Internet connectivity, open this tool (MediaCreationTool)
-
Choice: U disk, DVD or ISO file
-
Set your version of Windows 10
-
In this step, you must choose a USB flash drive and choose which USB flash drive you want to install to.
-
Make sure the network is open and wait patiently for completion.
-
This completes the Windows 10, version 1903 to support UEFI boot installation U disk.
It is a U disk in FAT32 format.
4.03GB install.wim becomes 3.20GB install.esd
END
BIOS settings
-
Boot Mode select UEFI instead of Legacy support
-
Secure boot is set to Disabled to ensure that the U disk can be recognized when booting.
(When the Secure boot of some models is set to Enabled, the USB flash drive cannot be recognized after booting)
-
OS Optimized Defaults is set to Disabled or Others
(The OS Optimized Defaults of some models is set to Win8, so you cannot install any system other than Win8.)
Be sure to save after modifying the BIOS
END
Precautions
-
U disk format must be FAT32, so win10 after 1903 is no longer suitable for making UEFI boot installation U disk with ISO image.
-
The ISO image of win10 after 1903 can only be made into a Legacy boot installation U disk, and the U disk format is NTFS.
When installing WIn10, we cannot create a new partition, nor can we find an existing partition!
Now, the deadline for free installation and upgrade of the official version of windows 10 is getting closer. Therefore, many friends started to upgrade the system. However, some users encountered the prompt "Cannot create partition and cannot find existing partition" when installing Windows 10 system and cannot continue the installation. What should I do? You can refer to the following methods to solve this problem.

1. Format the entire hard disk and repartition
If there is no important data on your hard drive, when it comes to the partitioning step, delete all the partitions on the hard drive, reformat the entire hard drive, then repartition, and then install it again.
If you have a win10 CD or win10 U disk, you can format and repartition the hard disk in the installation interface.
Methods as below:
If you are installing an x64-bit system and the Win10 system uses UEFI BIOS, you must install the Win10 disk in a GPT hard disk partition format that supports UEFI BIOS, and cannot use the traditional MBR partition format, so it is very important to convert to GTP. It should be noted that GPT disks are not compatible with 32-bit operating systems, and only 64-bit ones can be installed. Microsoft started to support UEFI from Vista Sp1 (note that it has Sp1). Therefore, since then, Microsoft operating systems, including Vista sp1, windows2008, 2008 R2, windows7, windows8, windows2012, are all supported. First, start the computer with the windows installation disk, press Shift+F10, and CMD with administrator rights will be started.
Then enter diskpart to start the program, and then enter list disk to check your hard disk to prevent hard disk changes. At this time, we enter select disk 0 to select disk 0.
Then, enter clean to clear the partition, and enter convert GPT to convert the format.
The conversion of the hard disk partition format has been completed, but we still need to partition. It is recommended to create an EFI partition and an MSR partition to help restore the system.
I will put the tutorial pictures and code on the 2nd floor. This method will greatly improve the boot speed and usability of win.
Just use the win7 tutorial to demonstrate how to partition, as common in win10.
Press Shift+F10 to display the command prompt:
Enter diskpart to start the program, and then enter list disk to check your hard disk to prevent errors in changing the hard disk. At this time, we enter select disk 0 to select disk 0.
Enter clean to clear the partition ( all data on the hard disk will be deleted ), and enter convert GPT to convert the format.
2. Try to plug and unplug the U disk, refresh it many times
If the installation method is U disk PE, then when this step is reached, first format the partition to be installed, and then plug and unplug the U disk. After plugging and unplugging, click "Refresh" on the partition interface. This step can be more Try a few times, and this problem can usually be solved.
3. Final solution: use the boot file that comes with Windows to install
If neither of the above two solutions work, then the following solution can help you solve the problem 100%.
First enter the PE, how to enter the pe system , find your system ISO image under PE, unzip it, then extract the boot folder, sources folder and bootmgr file in the image, and then copy it to the partition you want to install (such as c disk), then unplug the U disk, restart the computer, you can enter the Windows installation interface for normal installation.
The above is the solution to the problem of installing Windows 10 introduced by the editor of System City. Friends who have the same problem, might as well give it a try.

How to partition in win10
-
1
Before partitioning, we must enter the system's disk management. There are two ways to enter Disk Management. One is to enter the disk management through computer properties. The second is to right-click the windows button (windows+X) and select Disk Management.
Take the first type as an example. Right-click on My Computer and select "Manage". As shown, then select Disk Management.
-
After entering the disk management, we can see my partition status. Then select the disk you need to partition, right-click, and select "Compress Volume", as shown in the figure. This operation is relatively simple.
-
Then the system will automatically query the compressed space, this time depends on the configuration of the computer.
-
Then we choose to choose the size of the compressed space. Just click compress.
-
After a while, the space will be compressed. An available space will appear as shown in the figure. This is the space we just compressed out. as the picture shows.
-
Then we select the blank partition, right-click, and select "New Simple Volume".
-
Enter the new simple volume wizard, we just click "Next" here, as shown in the figure.
-
Then we specify the size of the volume, we can enter the size we want. Then click "Next". As shown.
-
For your new simple volume, select the drive letter. As shown.
-
Then select the disk format for your newly created simple volume, here we generally choose "NTFS". As shown.
-
Finally, we click Finish. Just wait a while. As shown.
