Build your own digital IC EDA environment (1): Install VMware 15.5 and centos7

1. Brief description

Because I switched from FPGA to digital IC, I didn't understand many places. I basically never used Linux, and I didn't use digital IC development tools, such as vcs, verdi, dve, and dc. Under pressure, use the six months before entering the job to practice by yourself. Since my family was poor and had no conditions to apply for classes, I had to continue the spirit of detaining the old shell, set up an EDA environment by myself, and first became familiar with the installation of tools. It's been almost half a year now, and occasionally go home at night to touch the computer. Today I will share with you how to build your own EDA system. The built EDA system will also be shared and provided for everyone to learn and use for free.

2. Preparation

  • VMvare15.5
  • centos7
  • ver_2018.09
  • vcs_mx_vO-2018.09
  • scl_v2018.06
  • synopsysinstaller_v5.0
  • scl_keygen (licensed until 2029)

3. Install VMware

1) Double-click the installation package to start

  • Click Next—>
  • Tick ​​I accept the terms of the license agreement, click Next —>
  • Click Change to modify the installation path; install it on the D drive as shown in the figure below, modify it according to your own computer situation, it can also be on the C drive by default; click OK —>
  • Will return to the previous page, click Next —>
  • Then click Next—>
  • Checked by default, next step —>
  • Click Install—>
  • Click Finish.

3) The installation is complete.

4. Install Centos7

1) Click to create a new virtual machine, select Typical and Next by default;

2) Choose to install later, and then add a mirror later, so that you can customize the settings when installing the system.

3) Choose Linux and Centos7 64-bit, click Next;

4) I named the virtual machine here IC_EDA, modify the installation path to Disk D, the next step;

5) I set the disk space to 100G, there is no specific space requirement, It’s best to leave more to install more software later; by default, it will be split into multiple files for easy movement;

6) Click on the custom hardware first. I will change the memory to 4GB, the number of processors to 2, and the core to 2. My computer is 16GB, 6 processors and 12 threads. The specific settings are modified according to your own computer configuration. Then remember to add the centos mirror, set it and click Close, return to the previous page, and click Finish.

7) Click to open this virtual machine to start the installation; after entering, use the arrow keys to select, select the first item in white, and then hit the Enter key to install; if you cannot use the arrow keys to select, click on the page, and you can use it if you want to remove the mouse ctrl+alt.

8) I am here to choose Chinese, the default selection in English can also see personal bar, and then click Continue;

9) click on the software installed, select the server version with the Gui;

10) click on the installation position partition, select I want to partition custom partitioning click to complete the next step; then you can click to automatically create them , modify on this basis.

11) modified as follows, our main software and engineering are at home, so here is set larger; Click Finish, click Accept to complete the set;

12) click to start the installation, Suggesting that set the root password and user settings, I am here to set the root password and user passwords are 2020; Click Finish, and the rest simply wait for installation;

13) After installation click on the restart , after entering the system requires the consent agreement. Then click on the bottom right corner to complete the configuration into the system.

14) Click to enter the login password: 2020; After entering, the default setting is selected to complete the setting;

15) The centos7 system desktop is shown in the figure below, if the desktop has an installation image, right-click and choose to pop up.

5. Summary
