With a rich open source background, the transition team of President-elect Biden of the United States announced the appointment of open source developer David Recordon as the White House technical director. Recordon served as vice president of infrastructure and security for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Foundation, a non-profit organization.
He was also the director of Facebook R&D and led Facebook's open source projects. In addition, he also led the development of Apache Cassandra . Participated in the development of HipHop , PHP, C++ source code translator and Apache Thrift , and also a developer of OpenID and OAuth .
Biden's transition team said: He has nearly 20 years of professional career in the fields of technology, security, open source software, public services and philanthropy.
Faced with the challenges posed by the new position, Recordon shared his feelings about getting the position on LinkedIn:

This is not Recordon's first appointment in the White House. During the presidency of Barack Obama, Recordon served as the first director of the White House Information Technology Department, focusing on IT modernization and cybersecurity issues. He also served as the deputy CTO of the Biden-Harris transition team.
