Daughter and her picture book

My daughter loves to read.

For a child, what is love to read?

A child before one year old grabbed a small picture book and delivered it to his little mouth, eagerly wanting to taste it, just like reading.

The children before the age of two finally realized that books weren't a delicious thing. They could restrain themselves from tearing the books into pieces of paper. They just loved reading.

Children before the age of five have to fall asleep listening to the story every day, asking questions while listening to the story, giggling constantly when encountering the little humor in the book, and are happy to tell the story to others, that is Love reading.

I remember when my daughter was only a few months old. At that time, the company I worked for distributed some benefits to employees with children. They were two children’s books, one called "The Taste of the Moon" and the other called "So Hungry." The Caterpillar.

That was probably the first time I read to my daughter. My daughter lay side by side with me, her big, flickering eyes staring at the book "So Hungry Caterpillar" that was held up high. In the eyes of such a small child, perhaps the pictures in the book are just colorful lines, but the daughter looks very focused. Reading in the middle, I accidentally turned the page and the book fell out of my hand. Before she could blink, the hard book hit her head. She began to cry.

This is the first close contact between my daughter and the book.

Now, my daughter is more than five years old. The number of books on her shelf has far surpassed that of a primary school student or even a junior high school student.

My daughter loves to read.

So as a father, I love to buy books.

Working in Suzhou Street, I often go to the surroundings to find restaurants with my colleagues for lunch. There is an affordable and delicious little restaurant near Haidian Bridge called "Three Gorges Douhuazhuang", next to it is the Zhongguancun Book Building. If I go there for dinner at noon, I will stop by the book building to find out if there are any new good-looking children's books on the market. My daughter’s favorite "Baba Papa" series and "Stupid Pig" series were first discovered there.

I usually get off work late, and when I get home, my daughter opens the door. When I opened the door to see my daughter and delivered her favorite books, she would yell in excitement, and ran to show her mother with the book, show her grandma, and show her aunt, "Look, father bought me books again La!"

For my daughter, a good book is a new joy.

As a father, I naturally hope that the joy in her heart will stay. So, whenever I picked a series of books for her on the Internet, I would put all the books in the company and take one or two of them back home as a meeting gift for her.

The taste of joy needs to be savored slowly.

My daughter loves to read.

Every night, she always fell asleep in the sound of reading from her father or mother, and fell asleep in the company of books. Even when she goes to kindergarten every day, she picks up a book to take with her, and puts the book by her pillow during the kindergarten lunch break. Books are her true friends.

For an adult, the daily process of falling asleep must be both sweet and painful. The sweetness is that you can finally unload the burden of today and take a good night's rest; but what is painful is that you have lost another precious day, and you will worry that one day you will lose to time.

Children have similar anxiety. For her young mind, this world is full of novelty and temptation. She does not want to cut off the connection with the outside world for a moment, even for a short while. In this world that she can clearly perceive, there are blue sky and white clouds, flowers, birds, fish and insects, fantastic ideas, delicious food, moving music, beautiful flowers, and countless fun things, more There are moms and dads who love her. Once you fall asleep, all of these cease to exist. The loneliness that slowly strikes, like the devil, erodes the real sensory experience step by step, which is frightening.

Therefore, she resisted.

It's time to tell bedtime stories at night again.

"Baby, it's time to close your eyes." With the picture book in my hand, I turned my head to remind my daughter.

"I still have to look at the pictures!" my daughter argued.

"Look at the picture, just listen with your ears. Close your eyes!"

"Hmph, I will close if I want to, but I won't close if I don't want to close!" The daughter put on a shameless posture.

I followed the tone of my daughter, "I want to go to school, but I don’t want to read it!"

"Do you want to read it?" The daughter asked seriously.

Seeing her anxious look, I wondered how to answer. I decided to tease her, "I don't want to read it."

The daughter was really anxious this time. She got up from the bed, leaned her face and continued to ask, "Dad, do you want to read?"

The mother beside her couldn't help but laugh. My daughter and I also burst into laughter.

So the father continued to read the story, and the daughter continued to look at the pictures. The confrontation between the father and the daughter ended with the daughter's victory once again.

Before I knew it, when I turned to look at my daughter again, she had fallen asleep quietly while reading.

In fact, everyone loves to read. It's just that the joy of reading is too easy to be stifled by some mundane things.

Busy work, busy family affairs, and excessive social activities all erode our reading time. Occasionally have some fragmented time, it is better to relax, browse the circle of friends, or watch TV for a while.

However, if you think about it carefully, you will find that each of us has fallen in love with reading, and there is always a good book worthy of careful recollection in everyone's memory.

I remember living on campus with my friends when I was in high school. Life in high school can be said to be boring. Teachers and classmates only care about the college entrance examination, as if other things in life can be ignored at that stage. There was no library in high school at that time, but by chance, I discovered that I could rent books from the family of a school teacher. So, reading some books that have nothing to do with learning becomes a pastime.

That private library doesn't have a lot of books, it's basically big novels. Reading "Orphan in the Fog", one can't help but admire Dickens' humorous brushstrokes, and be pleased with the happy ending of Little Oliver. Reading "Anna Karenina", I know what kind of ambivalence it is to be proposed by someone you don't love. Reading "Notre Dame de Paris" can truly understand the good and evil and the beauty and ugliness hidden under the surface.

However, at that time, the behavior of reading these extracurricular books was contrary to the goals of high school life. The school's schedule for exam-oriented education also did not leave room for similar reading activities. Therefore, when encountering courses that I don't like, I sometimes bury the book under the desk and read it secretly. I remember a high school buddy who lives in the same dormitory and fell in love with the book "Orphan in the Fog". At night, the lights were turned off in the dormitory. He couldn't find a place to read, so he ran to the street lamp next to the teaching building on the campus to look at it, but was caught by the inspecting dean. Fortunately, the dean of teaching did not confiscated his book, but only criticized a few words and sent him back to sleep.

It is conceivable that in the face of such pressing pressure from the college entrance examination, students' interest in literature can easily be stifled. Moreover, even high school language has nothing to do with the joy of reading. At that time, high school Chinese was nothing more than teaching you to memorize and write some stereotyped essays.

When we grew up and finally had some personal time, we were surprised to find that this world does not seem to need to read. We have a circle of friends and Weibo, which is full of information and fast food articles; we also have various TV entertainment programs and soap operas to help us pass the time.

But one day we will find that these cultural fast foods sold to us by others are hard to digest after all, and the nutrients in them are pitiful. They can't make our thoughts go half a step forward.

As long as we think about the current unsatisfactory reading environment in the entire society, it is not difficult for us to realize that love of reading is valuable.

Parents should be encouraged, especially not to set up artificial barriers.

As children grow up, they must complete two important tasks. One is the perfection of one's soul, and the other is the exploration of the external world. And reading is an important way to complete the second task.

In the book, my daughter learned about Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro and Venice; learned about Earth, Mars and aliens; learned about magic, fairy tales and Princess Aisha.

The advancement of thought has no boundaries.

I imagined that at some point in the future, when I came home and walked into the study, I suddenly found that my daughter was reading a book in her arms. She no longer needs the company of her parents, she has been able to enjoy solitude. At that time, I will be sure that my daughter has finally grown into a completely independent individual.

For our children, we will all get old one day. But the words we leave will always accompany them. As time goes by, and the years change, only words will last forever.
