"The Pattern"-Wu Jun

1. The pattern of life

1.1 God only favors those who take the initiative

Whether a miracle can appear is actually related to the initiative of people . In life, God cannot help people who do not take the initiative in encounters.

In work, initiative is not only reflected in doing the job well like an old scalper, but also actively communicating with leaders and taking on more and more important tasks . The manager knows best the situation of the subordinates who are close to him and who often take the initiative to talk about their work. Therefore, a person who takes the initiative to work must not only do his own job well, manage himself and his subordinates, but also be good at "managing" his superiors.

In many cases, whether things can be done and whether problems can be solved depends on the initiative of the people doing the things.

1.2 Don't act rashly before hearing objections

There are always two sides to everything. When people agree that a thing has only a good side, it does not mean that there is no bad side. It is likely that everyone has not understood it deeply enough and did not see some blind spots. And those undiscovered problems, once they happen, the consequences may be extremely serious, even catastrophic.

If everyone thinks something is good, I usually don't do it. Those things either have risks that everyone hasn't seen, or everyone feels that they are profitable. In fact, there is no room for profit.

1.3 Sharing interests, independent decision

1.3.1 Sharing benefits

Two principles:

  1. If a colleague’s work directly or indirectly helped our paper, we must add his name to the author
  2. If we talked about the work in the paper while having dinner with our colleagues or it included, we must express our gratitude to our colleagues in the paper.

Because many professional organizations in the world, such as academia, art, and law, are communities of interest, and they all pay attention to helping and supporting each other .

Only in this way can large organizations form synergy. No matter how good the person is, if he is reluctant to share the benefits, the people around him will eventually leave him.

1.3.2 Independent decision

Although meetings and communication are now convenient, we not only did not save time for meetings, but instead had too many meetings and spent too much time discussing issues that did not need to be discussed.

Behind independent decision is everyone's own responsibility. The reason why no one in many organizations or institutions is willing to make decisions alone is not that they don't like to have decision-making power, but that they are afraid of taking responsibility.

The civic awareness we often talk about, to become a qualified citizen, means to be responsible for all your decisions. When everyone is willing to undertake their own test, the decision is not difficult, and the efficiency is improved.

1.4 Don't forget the great good because of the little evil

Encounter minor evils, such as delaying graduation by assigning you to do chores. Since tuition is free when studying, this kind of great good should not be forgotten because of the little evil.

There are a small number of people who can't stand this "dirty" and drop out or transfer in the middle of the school, and the results are generally not very good. For those who drop out, the results after graduation will be quite different from those who graduated normally, while those who transfer will find that "the crows in the world are generally black".

It is a great thing for everyone to get to a good unit after graduation. Of course, it is not always smooth and happy. Sometimes colleagues will exclude you and your superiors will be unfair. But if this unit is worthy of your work for him, the trouble you encounter is a small evil, and you can deal with it as you should. You cannot negate all the good things just because of one bad thing .

Many people leave not because the second company is better than the previous one, but just because the problem encountered a small discomfort in the previous company, they forgot all the good things before and resigned angrily. Even if some people did not leave their jobs, they started to perfuse themselves in their careers. Maybe these people are right in some specific things, but for a little bit of evil they forget the great good the company once gave themselves, and then the gain is not worth the loss. If you work in a US company with this mentality, the possibility of improvement will be much smaller.

1.5 Don't use people's shortcomings to protect your own shortcomings, and don't show off your own strengths with human values

1.5.1 We cannot justify making mistakes just because others have made mistakes

For more rational people, they usually do not ask if there is a reason for doing something wrong, but instead determine whether they are doing something wrong. If it's wrong, just do whatever it takes to solve it. As for whether someone else caused this person to do something wrong, that's another matter. Don't mix it up.

1.5.2 What we have to do is to exceed the strengths of others, not to satisfy and exceed the weaknesses of others

At work, there will be people who advertise themselves as "the product manager who can write code best" and "the programmer who knows the product best", but at the end of the question, one must answer a question: Does the question exist as an engineer or as a product manager? If they are engineers, their engineering skills may be only second-rate or even third-rate.

Only when one can not lose to anyone in the engineering level, product awareness will add points to the improvement of the engineering level of the problem and it will become meaningful .
