Install Share: Qualcomm and the automotive industry complete large-scale C-V2X testing

Qualcomm announced today that it will unite a wide range of companies in China to demonstrate a complete industrial ecology centered on cellular car networking (C-V2X) technology, accelerate the development of the C-V2X industry and promote large-scale commercial use. Qualcomm has recently joined hands with more than 100 leading companies in automotive and technology ecology to jointly participate in China's 2020 Smart Connected Car C-V2X "New Four Crosses" and large-scale pilot application demonstration activities, objectively testing and demonstrating C-V2X technology in large-scale communications Performance and reliability under the scene, and jointly explore the opportunities of this technology in the field of mapping and positioning.

The exhibition includes two parts: the "new four-span" interconnection verification and large-scale testing. There are more than 40 vehicle companies, more than 40 terminal companies, more than 10 chip module companies, more than 20 information security companies, and 5 companies. Map manufacturers and 5 positioning service providers participated together. On the basis of the C-V2X application demonstration in 2019, the event further developed into a C-V2X "new four-span" interconnection application display across chip modules, terminals, vehicles, security platforms and graphic providers, using a new digital certificate format , Increase high-precision maps and positioning, and deploy continuous scenes that are closer to reality and more oriented to commercial applications.

As a highlight of this year’s event, the large-scale C-V2X test focused on verifying the operational capabilities of C-V2X products and systems for large-scale deployment. On the basis of the interconnection and security mechanism verification achieved in the previous C-V2X application demonstration, the industry More complete C-V2X large-scale commercialization is striding forward. Verification uses 180 C-V2X on-board units (OBU) and roadside units (RSU) as the test background to simulate complex conditions such as urban traffic peak hours and congested roads, and develop large-scale applications for chip modules, terminals, vehicles and other links The C-V2X communication performance and application function test under the environment verify the large-scale operation capability of the C-V2X system.

Most of the demonstration vehicles and OBU devices in this application demonstration activity use the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset, and on this basis, the vehicle-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 4G platform has been added to provide stable connections for the vehicles participating in the test ability. Through V2V and V2I direct communication, 4G or 5G wireless WAN V2N connection, the Snapdragon Automotive 4G and 5G platform aims to improve road safety and traffic efficiency through integrated C-V2X technology and high-precision positioning capabilities, alleviate congestion and increase capacity, C-V2X provides commercial support.

The five types of V2I demonstration scenarios demonstrated in this interconnection application demonstration include: in-vehicle signage prompts, traffic light information push/green wave traffic, safety comparison demonstration, vulnerable traffic participant reminders and forward construction reminders; five types of V2V demonstration scenes include: forward Collision warning, emergency vehicle avoidance, faulty vehicle reminder, blind spot warning and left turn assist; and MEC (mobile edge computing) scenes for front congestion prompts, and high-precision map and positioning assistance.

Su Li, deputy director of the Institute of Security Technology of China Mobile Communications Research Institute, said: “Industrial collaboration is of great significance to the large-scale commercial use of C-V2X. Last year, China Mobile Research Institute and Qualcomm and other companies jointly completed the Internet of Vehicles C -V2X certificate security configuration capability verification has realized the integration and application of operators' network security capabilities in the automotive industry. We are very pleased to further in-depth cooperation with Qualcomm to witness the continuous improvement of the industrial ecology and promote the development of China's C-V2X industry. National Automobile Power Strategy."

Dr. Wang Yizhi, co-founder and vice president of technology research and development of Nebulas Internet, said: "Driven by C-V2X technology, the automotive industry is constantly innovating and evolving at an unprecedented speed. As technology and industrial ecology mature, smart transportation and smart The future of the city has gradually emerged. Nebulas Internet is very pleased to provide system support for the C-V2X communication performance and function test under the background of this large-scale terminal communication. We hope to join hands with companies in a wider industry chain including Qualcomm to accelerate the promotion Commercial landing of C-V2X."

Zhang Ying, Project Director of Great Wall Motors R&D Branch, said: "With the continuous development of technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet, 5G, and V2X, automakers are striving for the requirements of intelligent networking and intelligent driving. Last year, we have cooperated with Qualcomm in 5G. In the future, we will use the Snapdragon 5G platform in our latest models to introduce 5G technology into smart networked transportation and smart cars, and promote the rapid development of the C-V2X industry and large-scale commercial use."

Jim Misener, senior director of product management at Qualcomm and head of the global C-V2X ecosystem, said: “At present, 5G technology is empowering the automotive industry and expanding many applications, promoting the large-scale development of China's C-V2X industry ecosystem. At the same time, powerful information and communications The industrial foundation also provides sufficient conditions for the commercialization of China's C-V2X. Qualcomm is very pleased to participate in China's C-V2X application demonstration demonstration for three consecutive years. Through our breakthrough product portfolio, we will unite with the extensive Chinese automotive ecosystem. Suppliers are accelerating the pace of large-scale commercial use of C-V2X, facing road safety and traffic efficiency, and jointly opening a new era of intelligent networked vehicles."
