After Apple, Firefox, Linux Lite, Microsoft no longer supports Flash

Microsoft recently issued a notice saying that it has updated the removal of Adobe Flash Player. Update KB4577586 can be downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog site to remove Flash Player. This update applies to all supported operating system versions. Optional updates for important versions of Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 will also remove all traces of Adobe Flash Player from the operating system during installation.

Adobe Flash Player will stop supporting on December 31, 2020. This is a decision Microsoft made as early as July 2017 .

Flash is a technology for networks and computers launched by Adobe in 1996. It can contain simple animations, videos, complex presentations and applications. It was still a very popular technology in the late 1990s.

In 2010, Steven Jobs  listed many reasons why his company’s hardware does not support Flash in a letter called  Thoughts on Flash , including poor mobile performance and security, which is also one of the factors driving this technology’s demise One. In 2017, Adobe announced that it would stop supporting this technology. For more than a decade, Internet companies have gradually reduced their support for Flash while increasing their support for HTML 5. According to statistics, in the second half of 2013, the number of Flash installations exceeded 500 million.

After the news of Microsoft's decision to stop support was issued, many manufacturers gradually removed the use of Flash in their products. In 2019, less than 5% of websites are still using Flash, which is a decrease of nearly 30% compared to 2011.

Since the beginning of this year, the latest preview version of Safari removed support for Flash in January; LibreOffice announced in April that the next major version will no longer support Flash; in May, Firefox updates the Flash phase-out schedule, and Firefox 84 will completely stop supporting Flash; When Linux Lite 5.2 RC1 was released in September, Flash was also deleted...
