How to download and install the IBM tape driver on Windows

Before you start

Before installing the tape device driver, make sure that the following operations have been completed:

• The host bus adapter ( HBA ) and its device driver have been installed automatically.

Note If the HBA connected to the tape library is an Emulex  adapter, please use the Emulex OneCommand Manager to set the HBA configuration parameter "  ExtTransferSize  " = 2  for Windows 2008 R2 .

• The tape drive and HBA are connected.
• The tape drive is powered on.
• The tape drive in the tape library is powered on.
• The server is powered on.

Complete the following steps to install the tape device driver:

1. Download the latest version of the device driver from the IBM Fix Central portal:

Note For the latest tape drives for Windows , please refer to the  required software.

1. 1. In the Web Open the browser to the URL of : HTTP  :  //www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral .
   2. Select " System Storage " from the " Product Group " menu .
   3. Select " Tape System " from the " System Storage " menu .
   4. Select the tape driver and software from the " Tape System "  menu .
   5. Select the tape device driver from the " Tape Drivers and Software "  menu .
   6. Select your operating system from the " Platform " menu.
   7. Click Continue to see the list of available downloads.
   8. Choose the version you want to download.

Note that the IBM tape device driver has two installation programs: exclusive and non-exclusive. Use the proprietary installer with Spectrum Archive Library Edition .
