Firefox 82 crashes due to antivirus software

Mozilla recently released Firefox 82. However, due to user feedback, the update has to be temporarily suspended. According to foreign media reports , there are two different problems that will affect the normal use of Firefox 82, and Mozilla has also admitted that the problem exists.

Which involves the issue of printing function , because some users found that when printing receipts did not work properly, they only got a blank sheet of paper. Problems related to the printing function also include incorrect trimming of blank parts of the PDF file . Mozilla has begun investigating the above issues and is currently testing the fix in the latest Firefox 83 beta.

Another problem is caused by anti-virus software. Firefox 82 does not seem to be compatible with many anti-virus software on Windows devices.

Users said that if the device is installed with software developed by Symantec and Trend Micro, Firefox will crash when it starts. Some users claim that the same thing will happen if Windows 10's default Windows Defender antivirus protection function is enabled.

A user replies in Bugzilla expressed : "After the upgrade from 81.0.1 Firefox to Firefox 82, appeared in the case does not start after several reinstalling still does not work, but the installed older versions of Firefox Developer Edition can be used normally. "At this time, the user failed to start again after upgrading the developer version, and he also reproduced the same problem on the same laptop of his colleague. Then this user tried Firefox ESR 78.4.0esr and found that it can be used normally. So he concluded that it was an antivirus software or driver problem.

Therefore, users who have not yet upgraded to Firefox 82 are advised to postpone the update. It is expected that the new release of Firefox next week will solve these problems.
