Huawei Kunpeng servers account for more than 50%, which is a bit overstatement

At the Huawei Full Connect Conference, Zheng Yelai, President of Huawei Cloud Business, announced that “The market share of Kunpeng servers launched by Huawei’s partners has exceeded 50%.” This is indeed encouraging, but it is a rather controversial issue.

In the global server market, X86 servers are the absolute mainstream, accounting for more than 99%. Intel has about 97% of the market share, and AMD has about 3% of the market. Both are X86 architecture server chips.

The market share of X86 servers in China in 2019 shows that the first place is Inspur, with a market share of 28.7%. Huawei ranks second with a market share of 16.4%. Although Huawei has a certain advantage in the server market, it has not achieved absolute Advantage.

If all Huawei servers use Kunpeng server chips, Kunpeng servers can only account for 16.4% of the domestic server market. It can be seen that it is impossible for Kunpeng servers to account for 50% of the domestic market.

Baiming Technology believes that Huawei Kunpeng servers account for more than 50% of the servers, which means that half of the servers shipped by Huawei use Kunpeng servers, rather than saying that Huawei's Kunpeng servers account for more than 50% of the domestic server market.

Of course, this is a huge breakthrough for Huawei. Kunpeng server chips use the ARM architecture. Before Huawei, many server chip companies have developed ARM architecture servers, but those server chip companies have basically closed down because of the difficulty of ARM architecture server chips. Breaking the ecology of X86-based servers, and the fact that Huawei Kunpeng Server can obtain such a market share has broken the monopoly of X86-based servers.

Huawei is a latecomer in the server market, but it has taken a few years to achieve the second place in the domestic server market. It is already a great achievement. Now it has broken the monopoly of X86 servers by its own efforts and made other chip companies. No achievements.

As the strongest technology company in China, Huawei has faced many difficulties since last year. However, it is unwilling to give in. It still moves forward stubbornly and supports the domestic chip industry to break the monopoly advantage of American chips. This achievement The spirit of harmony is worthy of admiration by Chinese people, but some exaggerated remarks should also be treated rationally.
