After learning design for a long time, when will you become a qualified designer? (With tutorial materials)

I have seen many partners say confidently during interviews: "I know PS, AI, AE, sketch, C4D...". Of course, these things can bring a small bonus to your interview, but everyone knows that designer interviews are mainly based on works. Interviewers generally don’t care about what software you use to do them when they look at your works. It depends on whether you have a design feeling, and whether it meets their design requirements. So what kind of capabilities should a qualified designer have? The main points are as follows:

1. Software proficiency

Any designer, no one knows how to use software, so software is a must-have ability

2. Communication skills

When designing, you will often get some requirements. You have to communicate with customers and your boss, and use the most accurate communication to make the best design.

3. Collaboration ability

Nowadays, in the process of product R&D from 0 to 1, the division of labor is becoming more and more detailed; each link is more and more closely coordinated. At the same time, as various technologies and software have matured, collaborative operations have become more and more convenient. As a designer, don't think that products and technology have nothing to do with you. This is the most deadly. First of all, you have to understand how your upstream and downstream work. You have to understand the prototype, page structure, interaction form, product logic, etc. that the product submitted to you. If you don't understand, discuss it with the product, otherwise it will be a cat and a dog. Secondly, you must clearly know what standard manuscripts need to be submitted to the technology. Take iOS development as an example. Annotated documents are required, and then the icon requirements are 1 times, 2 times, and 3 times.

4. Research ability

Your vision determines your height, and designers are most taboo to "work behind closed doors." Even if you don't have the homepage of behance or dribbble, you should read it every day to understand what are the current popular elements? Think about the next trend in fashion? When you get the product requirements, don't rush to do it. The most important thing you should do at this time is "research". Many people will say: "Isn't this the job of the product?". "Yes!", research is done in the early stage of the product, but our research is different from the product research angle. Our research is based on visual and interactive perspectives. First of all, you need to know how your competitors are doing, and then whether there is a visual positioning that suits your product style, the so-called "knowing yourself, knowing the enemy, you will never die."

Five, thinking ability

The difference between design and art is that design requires thinking. There are often some recent graduates who go to interviews with copied works. Although they do beautifully and do it by themselves, we hire design rather than art. Copying will only exercise your skills but not your thinking ability. It will not help you improve your design. So what should fresh graduates do if they don’t have a work? My suggestion is to "redesign". Redesign is not copying, it is done with thought. Every typesetting and every color is carefully thought out.

Six, summary ability

How the designer grows quickly, that is the summary. No design is perfect. Every work has room for optimization. We just stop at the right time. Then we summarized the good points and shortcomings of this work. Collect user feedback, which places are users favorite and which places are complained about. This way we will do better in the next version or the next design. Only those who are good at summarizing can grow.
